Need help finding a Roman Catholic link re: homosexual marriage

Posted on 08/31/2004 7:44:10 AM PDT by FormerLib

There was an older thread disproving the charge that the Roman Catholic Church ever sanctioned homosexual marriage.

TOPICS: Catholic; Eastern Religions; Religion & Culture
KEYWORDS: homosexualagenda; samesexmarriage
This article on Free Republic was deleted and I need to find a link to it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, I know.

But do you remember that attempt to "prove" that the Roman Catholic Church actually sanctioned the practice up to the 16th Century? It was a deliberate misinterpretation of the "kumbara" bonding from the Greek Church (where you become literal brothers or sisters in Christ) that the homosexual agenda attempted to advance a few years back.

It was carefully disproven but I need some links to the articles.

I don't have any links, but I recall that the journalist peddling the myth of mediaeval Catholic same-sex unions is called John Boswell. If you google him with additional key words such as "gay marriage" or such, you should find quite a lot.

I would try scripter or EdReform. Scripter is on leave from being very active on FR but he does check his pings now and then. I haven't seen much of EdR lately, but he knows *everything*.

ItsOurTimeNow is running the Homo-agenda pinglist as my computer is about to die (long, lingering, flapping death). Ping me if you find it, and if I am able to locate anything like what you want, I'll ping you.

John Paul spoke against it, but most other leaders disagree. American bishops are in favor of it and against it, depending on who asks and who is asked. There's information all over the Web, if one can get past the public relations junk.

...what LJ said! That's good advice. And you might try Max. He runs a Catholic ping list.

Yes, this is proving to be productive, thanks!

You might rummage around David Armstrong's website, "Biblical Evidence for Catholicism". He probably has some articles on this issue somewhere:

I just so happened to check my pings today...

I don't have the article or I can't find it. Can you tell me any more about the article? Narrow down the time frame?

"American bishops are in favor of it and against it, depending on who asks and who is asked."

With a high proportion of sodomites among the American bishops, their reticence to condemn homosexual unions should come as no surprise.
It would be like a doctor condemning the practice of medicine.

Sorry I missed your request.

For future reference, whenever you come across an article of interest, please feel free to post the title and link (and excerpt, if you wish) as a reply in scripter's "Homosexual Agenda: Categorical Index of Links (Version 1.1)."

If we continue to do this, the documentation will be available when we need it.

Thanks!
