KAZAN, THE END OF STORY – The holy icon of Our Lady of Kazan, which was being used as a pawn by John Paul II to win a visit to Russia, will be delivered to the Russian Schismatic Church without the visit. The unconditional decision of the Pope was announced June 10 and will become a reality on August 28. Navarro-Valls, spokesman for the Pope, said JPII hopes that this gift will improve the dialogue. A commission is being appointed to deliver the icon to Alexis II, the haughty Russian Schismatic patriarch (The Tablet, July 17, 2004, p. 31).

JPII shows Our Lady of Kazan to Russian President Vladmir Putin.

The Tablet, July 17, 2004
This icon has been part of Russian history from time immemorial: it was hidden during the Tartar invasion of 1209, reappeared in 1579, left Russia before the Communist revolution, and was purchased by the American Blue Army in the 1970s. In 1993 this organization gave it to JPII. For details, I recommend the article of Dr. Marian Horvat, Handing Over the Symbolic Icon.

After JPII received the icon, he held it up as bait before the Russian Schismatic Church to finagle a visit to Moscow. Ignoring the lure, the Russian Schismatics have done all they could to snub John Paul II, denied him permission even to step foot into Russian territory, and treated his innumerable ambassadors with absolute scorn and arrogance.

I am an opponent of post-conciliar ecumenism; I completely disapproved of a possible trade: Icon for Visit; my indignation was raised by the Schismatic arrogance toward Rome. Well, what to say now about JPII’s unconditional offer to deliver the Sacred Icon of Our Lady of Kazan? No more honor, no more shame, no more decency. This is part of the progressivist agenda. The most sacred relics are being handed over to heretics and schismatics as if they were the best and most deserving Catholics in the world. I understand more and more why Our Lady of La Sallette warned Melanie that Rome would lose the Faith and become the seat of the Antichrist

Parallel to this decision, the Vatican launched another misleading maneuver to soften the blow to the public of the hand-over. It began to spread that the icon is “almost certainly not the original,” but a 17th century copy (The Tablet, ibid.). Two hypotheses:

• If it is not the original, why did JPII made the serious proposal to trade the Icon for a trip to Russia? Was the offer a bluff? If so, is this an honest way for a Pope to behave?

• If it is the original, why would he deliver it to the Russian Schismatic Church before Russia converts, as Our Lady said it would at Fatima? In fact, the Russians have not changed one iota in their millenary schismatic arrogance toward Rome or their heresies – they deny the dogmas of the Filioque, the Immaculate Conception, and Papal Infallibility.

August 28 should be a day of reparation for this manifold offense to Our Lady and a day of prayer for faithful Catholics asking her to intervene and save Holy Mother Church.

LIBERTY, EQUALITY, FRATERNITY – On August 14, 2004, at Tarbes Airport, France, John Paul II said:

“With respect for the responsibilities and competences of all, the Catholic Church desires to offer society a specific contribution towards the building of a world in which the great ideals of liberty, equality and fraternity can form the basis of social life, in the tireless pursuit and promotion of the common good” (Holy See website, official English translation).
With these words he went even further than he did on his visit to France in 1980. On that occasion he tried to justify these revolutionary ideals; now he is asserting that the Church must spread them throughout the world.

Twenty-four years ago, on June 1, 1980 at Le Bourget Airport, Paris, he said:
How much the sons and daughters of your nation have done for the knowledge of mankind, to express humanity through the formulation of their inalienable rights! The role that the idea of liberty, equality and fraternity plays in your culture is well known. At depth they are Christian ideas. Even as I say this, I am well aware that those who first formulated this ideal were not referring to man’s alliance with eternal wisdom. But they wanted to act for the benefit of man” (Insegnamenti di Giovanni Paolo II, Libreria Editrice Vaticana, vol. 3/1, p. 1589).
In 1980 as well as on several other occasions (see my Animus Delendi I, pp. 208-213), he was following in the footsteps of Paul VI (ibid., p. 207) approving the principles of the French Revolution’s motto, which had previously been condemned by the following papal documents:
Decretal of Pius VI of March 10, 1791 to Cardinal Rochefoucauld and Archbishop of Aix-en Provence;
• Secret consistory of Pius VI of June 17, 1793;
• Encyclical Mirari vos of Gregory XVI, of August 15, 1832;
• Encyclical Nostis et Nobiscum by Pius IX of December 8, 1849;
• Allocution by Pius IX to French pilgrims of May 5, 1874;
• Apostolic Letter Notre charge apostolique of St. Pius X, August 25, 1910;
• Allocution of July 11, 1920 by Benedict XV (for the texts, see Animus Delendi I, pp.202-207, note 4).
The direct opposition of Paul VI and John Paul II to the previous Pontifical Magisterium on this topic is not news. The news is that now JPII claims that the mission of the Catholic Church is to establish a society based on the revolutionary notions of liberty, equality and fraternity. It is a gigantic step taken. It is equivalent to saying that the torch of the Revolution has passed to ecclesiastic hands, and that it should be held aloft by Church representatives. It confirms that the Conciliar Church is the vanguard of the Revolution. It represents a complete inversion of the mission of the Catholic Church.

The perversity that St. Pius X saw around him was so great that he asked himself if he were not living in the times of the Antichrist. He wrote:
“This, according to the same Apostle, is the distinguishing mark of the Antichrist: with infinite temerity man has usurped the place of God, raising himself above all that is called God; in such wise that although he cannot utterly extinguish in himself all knowledge of God, he has shaken off the yoke of God's majesty and made of the world a temple where he pretends to receive the adoration of his fellow men. He sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself as if he were God (II. Thess 2; 4).” (Encyclical E supremi apostolatus, n. 5).
One can wonder what St. Pius X would say about the situation today, where a Pope praises and assumes as the mission of the Church the spreading of those same principles St. Pius X characterized as belonging to the Antichrist.

If the icon we are returning has already been deemed a fake, why would the Russians accept it?

Good question.

If the schismatics claim it's a fake from apostate Rome, they should burn it.

If they hang it in a place of worship, they have once again pulled the wool over Rome's eyes.
