New Kinf of Evangelist (Paula White)

Paula White is not your mom's evangelist. Female preachers were typically like Kathryn Kuhlman, the Pittsburgh healer who would float onto the stage in an white, flouncy gown. Or they were in the mode of Anne Graham Lotz, the Rev. Billy Graham's second eldest daughter, who is known for her serious lectures on the Bible.

This was aninteresting article...I did not know her whole story. It seems that she's over come alot however much of her teaching about the prosperity gospel I would disagree with. I have a John MAcarthur tape called "Does the Truth Matter?" where I believe she talks to her billfold and tells her billfold to be full of money. It will be interesting to see her on Bill O'Reilly's show on friday night.

***Every time I see Paula White on [Trinity Broadcasting Network], I think, my God, look where she's gotten to," Miss Novas said. "She has a real love of souls. She was always like that: full of the fire of God."***

Thou shalt not use the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

"you're nonjudgmental."

This is good?

Let's see...Credo in...Jesum Christum...inde venturis est, judicare vivos et mortuos...

Jesus Christ will come again to judge the living and the dead.

So, if judging is bad, then Jesus does bad things? Or, He requires us to reject Satan and love God without being "judgmental?"

Gibberish.

This is their mission statement:

"We believe that Matthew 28:19, "Go ye therefore, and "teach" all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost," is the great commission, not the great suggestion."

Ref: http://www.withoutwalls.org/mission.htm

Pretty open ended I'd say.

I make it a point never to give to anyone who makes more than I.

"I make it a point never to give to anyone who makes more than I."

A very wise (and scriptural) move

Proverbs 22:6 ...he that giveth to the rich shall surely come to want.

Never heard of Paula White. Sound like she has an interesting testimony. Matt 21:16

As for judgment I believe she was referring to Matt: 7:1-3.

As for the prosperity message, it has a one or two good points to teach, but that it. Most of the time the message is drown out, by the misery and weeping of the messenger himself, when he comes to his end. Jim Baker comes to mind as an example if one is not careful.

It's great that she's overcome such a rotten childhood, however the whole "prosperity Christianity" thing makes me somewhat queasy.

They don't believe they can have financial prosperity. Why? Because they don't believe they deserve to have money.

Has nothing to do with whether we "deserve" money or not (actually we deserve damnation, but that's another thread.) There's a difference between relying on God to supply your needs and expecting God to make you rich. I find nowhere in Scripture where God promises Christians material wealth on earth.

Paula White: "I preach myself to victory," she said. "You've got to learn to tell the devil, 'I don't think so.' "

Has she ever read the L-rd's brother, Jude ?

NAsbU Jude 1:9 But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

a bondslave to the Christ

I have seen her on TBN many times, but can only stand to watch for a few minutes. The drumbeat after every few words gets me crazy! I am totally against this kind of theology, can't help it, I just am. I have had too much experience with the followers of the prosperity gospel, and it has all been negative.

She also visits with troubled celebrities, such as pop star Michael Jackson, who summoned her to his Neverland ranch in December for prayer.

Alrighty then.

Thanks for the warning!! Like I said I have never heard of her before. From what is posted I gave her a benefit of a doubt. Next time I watch TBN I will have to see it for my self. I will probably regret it.

If you can watch TBN for several minutes, you are stronger than I. I can only stand about 30 seconds of "name-it-and-claim-it" claptrap.

On the other hand, this dyed-in-the-wool Reformed Sola Fide Protestant GRPL member can watch EWTN for hours. I saw a great special on Gilbert Chesterton the other day. You won't see stuff like that on TBN.

I personally am not a fan of prosperity teaching. I'm not familiar with Mrs. White, either. One thing I AM concerned about, is that with the lack of evidence of wrongdoing, why are we on her case? Is she human? yes. Can any human ever get it right? no. As Christians, maybe we should be looking more at the enemies of the Lord, than others like us, who are trying to be faithful despite our human failings. Of course her financial situation is a big deal to her. Ask anyone who has "scraped by" for any amount of time then came into money. It is a blessing from the Lord.
