If we feel that a mortal sin is only defined by murder or abortion, we have deluded ourselves into a total separation from God.The early Church (the Church that was nearest to the influence of Jesus Himself) demanded confession only once in one's lifetime, and only for the sins of adultery, apostasy, and murder.
Was the early Church clueless about what sins separated a Christian from God for eternity?
There are simply not that many sins that risk the separation of a Catholic from God for eternity.
Venial sins abound, and they should be confessed and corrected. But one does not refrain from receiving the Eucharist over venial sin.
We all sin seven times a day.

You are correct. Many of us tend to presume upon God's mercy at times. Today, most think only bank robbers and mass murders go to hell. We are delusional. I was in line at confession once at St.Patrick's Cathedral in NYC and a 30 something woman with her friend was sight seeing. She saw the confessional line and said I never go to confession, it's not like I rob a bank or anything!
That is the Sinkspur approach to sin. The idea that it is hard to commit a mortal sin seems silly. Our lives are so secular and there is so much temptation and so many poorly formed consciences that it is inconceivable that any Catholic would downplay confession.
Just reading the lives of the saints should correct any Catholic who thinks confession is not essential.

Contraception is one of the biggest sins that plaques our Church and society today. If we could correct this grave, and usually mortal, sin we could transform our society. Many ills would be corrected if we would stop it!
Catholics have not been taught they they are under SERIOUS obligation to form their consciences with Church teaching. This is one of the areas that most disturbs me. The Church may have lost one or to generations due to poor catechesis.

Are you saying the Church today is confused? Is it that only left wing dissenters have the Truth? I thought The Pope and bishops in union with him speak the infallible truth on issues of faith and morals?
Let me understand your position. You are saying there are only 3 mortal sins? The Church today has it wrong?

Read the early history of the Church. Was the Church wrong then?

"Was the Church wrong then?"
No, nor is it wrong today. The truth does not change with time. That is why I obey the Church and go to confession often. I do not change history, misread it, or use it as an alibi to hide from God's justice.

There is no sin. There is no hell. Sodomite priests are good, and little boys are legitimate fodder for them. The entire pre-VII Church was an abomination. Anything goes! Yaaaahooooo!

Only one I have a question about:
Mass can never be celebrated "in a temple or sacred place of any non-Christian religion."
I can't think of any better way to consecrate a place. Or are they saying the building has to be blessed somehow first?
