Hubbard patrol ping. Didn't see if this was posted already. Hope it wasn't.
NYer, feel like being our eyes and ears on the ground again? You did such a magnificent job last time!

Ditto for your comments to NYer!
I know I have been gone for about a month, but it seems as though it has been very quiet (about Albany), that is!

RCF ping. Stephen Brady is doing what the Amchurch bishops refuse to do.

The only minor concern is, why are they spending money on renting Elk's Lodge? Surely there must be a non-masonic meeting room for rent somewhere.

Stephen Brady and John Aretakis are proof that God chooses the most unlikely instruments of His grace and justice.

Elks lodge is not a masonic organization, as far as I know.

Please could you go over to
this thread and ping your catholic lists? Kirsten, a brave young lady serving in Iraq (pictured) is Roman Catholic.

NYer, feel like being our eyes and ears on the ground again? You did such a magnificent job last time! "The CCCAD "Agony in Albany - Leadership in Crisis" conference will be held on Saturday, May 8 from 9:00 a.m. until to 4:00 p.m. (Mass will be offered at 8:30 a.m.) The conference location will be: Elks Lodge #2192"
The Elks Lodge is just up the road from me. Will give the CCCAD a call tomorrow to learn more about the conference. Since switching to the Maronite Catholic Church, I have put this situation behind me. However, in deference to Fr. Minkler, I will definitely drop by the conference but not for 7 hours.
Thanks for posting the information on this conference.

Mass at the Elk's Lodge?
No Catholic Church offering Mass on Saturday morning? Or can the RCF just not bring itself to attend Mass in a church in the Albany diocese?
Bizarre.

But, any venue is better than an actual Catholic Church, when the bishop is the object of scorn, right?

(There is a Masonic Lodge about 1/2 mile away). Many of the Elks are also members of the Knights of Columbus. It's quite probable that the Lodge was offered FOC, by someone who is a member of the CCCAD. My neighbor is a member of the Elks. I'll speak with her tomorrow ;-D

The pastor is one of Bishop Hubbard's right hand men. The parish was awarded him for his loyalty. His name appears 3x on Fr. Minkler's list. Doubtful they would approach him to host their Mass.

A safe guess would be that Bishop Hubbard is a member of anti-Catholic secret societies and is probably a freemason.
To: NYer
Doubtful they would approach him to host their Mass. So, they choose to host their Mass in a secular venue, due to pique.
Did they approach your former pastor?
Nah. Keep the us-versus-them going. It's good for attendance at Brady's seminar-rally.

Thanks for checking it out.
The Elks and the Mason rituals and philosophy are suspiciously similar.
I personally would prefer them spend the money on a Knights of Columbus Hall, if they are at least neutral there locally.

Are they dragging a priest in from some other diocese to celebrate Mass? Does he have faculties?

Well, if I were to guess, I'd say logistics is the major concern here. They would need a suitable meeting place to do Mass and meeting at one single location instead of doing Mass and then shuffling off to a meeting elsewhere.
Besides, I don't think Hubbard is thrilled to welcome RCF with open arms, if the last meeting is any indication. So I don't blame Steve for not bothering with a parish.
