Why do you think it was that He left 2 or 3 hints (that have to be interpeted) instead of coming out with it? Is it another of those secrets that only the most spiritually discerning can know? "to the ones it has been given"?

Why not hear Him for yourself?

"Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. And in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says

YOU WILL KEEP ON HEARING,
BUT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND;
AND YOU WILL KEEP ON SEEING, BUT WILL NOT PERCEIVE;
FOR THE HEART OF THIS PEOPLE
HAS BECOME DULL,
AND WITH THEIR EARS THEY SCARCELY HEAR,
AND THEY HAVE CLOSED THEIR EYES
LEST THEY THEY SHOULD SEE WITH THEIR EYES, AND HEAR WITH THEIR EARS,
AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART AND RETURN,
AND I SHOULD HEAL THEM
."

Thank you for your testimony. Would it be fair then to say that you subjectively feel that you are of the elect because of your relationship with God, but that the fact that you are therefore secure is objectively known from Scripture?

Every little baptised baby is likewise filled with the Spirit of God.

Then why did God make such a big deal by singling John the Baptist [;^)] and Jeremiah out as being filled with the Spirit from the womb?

John 8:58 -

Yes, Jesus claims to have been before Abraham. In fact He claims to have been with God before the world was made. He does not claim He is God.

John 17:
1: When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify thy Son that the Son may glorify thee,
2: since thou hast given him power over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom thou hast given him.
3: And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.
4: I glorified thee on earth, having accomplished the work which thou gavest me to do;
5: and now, Father, glorify thou me in thy own presence with the glory which I had with thee before the world was made.

Both Jeremiah and John the Baptist lived prior to the initiation of Christian baptism. John's baptism was symbolic and wholly different from the Baptism Jesus commanded after His Resurrection. John is the last of the "Old Covenant" prophets.

In what way was He the "Son" of God? What was the nature of that relationship? This question has been answered several times and I am not about to play your q&a games.

Well humor me here because I'm not about to browse back through 3,000+ posts to find it. If you've already answered, please provide me with a link to the post. Otherwise I'd like to know your answer.

Was Jesus wrong?

No.

I will say this to you for the last time.

My belief: One does not have to believe Jesus is God in order to be saved.! Is that clear?

(and have had problems with a couple of his recent thoughts - like the HS being female)

Well if that's the case then maybe the lavender mafia isn't so far off. (Lk 1:35)

Yes, Jesus claims to have been before Abraham. In fact He claims to have been with God before the world was made. He does not claim He is God.

"I AM" is God's word for Himself. it is not merely a statement of pre-existence.

To answer that more clearly, they were recipients of special gifts. Baptism makes God's spirit available to all who may be drawn. But before the Church was commissioned to baptise, to be given the gift of the Holy Spirit was to have God decide to single you out. It was something remarkable, hence it was remarked upon in Scripture.

They include this word, but it is not in the original text. It was added by the translators. The exact translation would exclude the word he.

You have no idea what was in the original text. There is no such thing.

I have spent too much time with you today. Goodbye.

That's the second time you've posted that - without explanation. What exactly do you think it's saying that contradicts that Christ is God? It certainly doesn't bear on "I AM"

I'm sorry... it may be convenient for you, but are you under the impression that only the words in red are Scripture?

Pay attention. It is not a quote from Jesus.

contains an interesting little article on "I am". If nothing else it shows there are differences in interpretation.

The attack is all yours cindy. It was you that accused the Calvinists ... You fired the first shot.

Yet another mis-statement.

The first discussions on the issue were between Mack and Doc Eckleberg (who was pinging the mod's to NES posts ... I'm not saying that it was for nefarious reasons, ... but this was the first mention of the issue.)

From my reveiw of the thread, I see that CD accused noone.

She asked you if you were trying to get the thread shutdown.

You, on the other hand, have falsely accused both myself and Malakhi of sic'ing the mod's on the Calvinists.

And you've yet to apologize.

One of the things about Calvinists Cindy is when we are right we give no ground.

Actually, you give no ground whether you're right or wrong. This makes it hard to take you seriously.

... you have made several accusations.

Wrong!

(you are the one that raised the issue).

Wrong!

I said nothing about Vince until your accusations ...

Wrong ... CD made no accusations.

...go back and read your own words.

Perhaps you should go back and read them.

So put up or admit that you were wrong.

Tell you what ... let's see you admit that you were wrong.
