From mid weekend predictions it appears the Passion of the Christ movie will gross over $42.663 million.
Current numbers are a bit confusing, there are totals, predicted average totals and current grosses.
But these figures may be close. Friday's daily totals were $22 Million in ticket sales Weekend estimate of Passion grosses is *$65.047 mill Currently it is ranked number ONE in front of "50 Dates"- which totaled $11.847 million for mid weekend sales..
From friday's numbers ,the sum of all other movie ticket sales in the USA was less than $14 million- compared to Passion's $22 plus million. *These figures will pan out by tonight, as these are predicted sales figures
TOPICS: Activism; Ministry/Outreach; Religion & Culture
KEYWORDS: boxoffice; grosses; passion; tickets
The critics were throwing out figures of $100 Mill, as a total income for Mel Gibson's Passion in its complete run! Yet it looks like the film will boost over $65 Million by Monday alone. World wide totals could peak at nearly $300 Million when it's all done. Or should I say when - - - ..- - - "It is accomplished!"

in some ways, the critics started this.
You see, here in Oklahoma, we saw that the local theater wasn't going play it at first.
So some church groups went and said if they would book it, we would buy tickets so they wouldn't lose money.
So they bought it, and our parish advertised Thursday night (figuring it might not be played in the lucrative Friday/Saturday/Sunday time slots.) The charismatic prayer group and the youth group made plans...
But when we picked up our tickets, we found the Assembly of God church took all the Thursday night tickets and we couldn't get the block we requested until Sunday night. Guess the Baptists, the Nazarenes, the Methodists and other similar subversive groups must have beat us to it...
Of course, this IS the bible belt. But I suspect a lot of people are like my husband and I: We who would say: oh this is playing, let's go, or maybe we can go next week...whoops the movie's not there any more.
But for THIS movie, we don't want to take a chance that we'll miss it.
Now, whether or not it has staying power for week two and three will depend on how word of mouth spreads.

One one of its sites, Mojo has the Friday take alone at over $39,000,000! The possible take for the entire five days could be well into $120,000,000! And this is only for five days! At this rate it will easily overtake Titanic.
