"Yes He was a Jew"..Hardly!..He was a Semitic Hebrew male, whose religion was the Torath Yahve, the prevailing religious concept of Judea at the time..There were many interpretations of that Concept, including the Hellenised Pharisees, whom Jesus spoke against for what He regarded as their violation of the Torath, & their collaboration with Rome..For that reason He threatened both Roman Authority, & the Temple Authority, & they conspired to be rid of Him in the Roman Manner.Modern Judaism is the direct lineal descendant of Phariseeism..In Jesus' lifetime there was no monolithic religion known as Judaism, any more than there is today, or than there is a monolithic Christianity or Islam..To the Romans there were only subject Judeans, whatever their religious ideas, sects, or practices..Subjects are to be controlled and made to obey..Rock the boat and you will DIE, in the most horrific manner they can devise..scourging & crucifixion..The Temple Authorities had the job of keeping peace with Rome..Jesus knew He was challenging the Powers, He knew the price of His deviation from the Politically Correct, & He paid willingly the cost!...The "Jews" were not responsible for His Death, nor were the Romans..He was personally responsible for His Actions, & their Consequences...The Temple Authorities, & Pilate were merely the Agents He employed to carry out His Redemptive Act...
