It's one thing to attack Gibson's behavior. It's another to cast aspersions on a religion.

I'm rebuking Hutton Gibson's Holocaust Denial and antisemitism. I'm criticizing Mel Gibson for not rebuking and correcting him.

I believe that less than five percent of Americans are Jewish. Is that a "fringe" religion too, now?

You tell me. Tell me what you really believe about the Jews. Share your deepest feelings. Get it all out.

How about Buddists? Or the Mennonites? Or the Mormons? Are the "antiquated" religions?

You tell me. Share your pain.

Scrutinize Gibson for shady business dealings or intemperate statements (if they, in fact, exist).

I don't consider Holocaust Denial and Antisemitism to be a religion but if it were I would single it out for attack.

Uh....I hate to break this to you,since you're obviously looking for an excuse to call me an anti-Semite, but I'm in a mixed marriage.... my wife is Jewish. My kids are Jewish. Bar Mitzvahs and the whole deal.

We celebrate Christmas and Hannukkah in December, Easter and Passover in the Spring and Rosh Hashannah in the fall.

We both are looking forward to seeing this film because we think it will be a great piece of cinema.

Neither of us approve of bashing a religion as "antiquated" or "fringe" just because we disagree with it.

I'm simply noting that calling a small, or unpopular, religion "fringe" or "antiquated" in a major news outlet potentially opens the door to casting other such religions in a negative light.

I don't think he's denying that the Holocaust took place. He just questions some of the numbers and events that are accepted as gospel. There's nothing wrong with that.

Hutton seems to be more ignorant than hateful. For example, one of the things he recently said, that the Nazis didn't have enough fuel to cremate 6 million dead Jews at Auschwitz, is probably right, but beside the point.

Auschwitz and other crematoria came online very late in the Holocaust.

In the beginning, most Jews were killed with a single "Stalin shot" to the base of the skull, and their bodies were buried by Jews who were waiting their own turn to be shot.

Later, they were gassed in trucks using the exhaust while the truck ran, and again, they were buried by fellow Jews.

There were death camps all over Europe, many of them most people in the West have never heard of, and are not very well studied because they were behind the Iron Curtain and the Soviets didn't care to study the Holocaust, they were interested in the way the Nazis treated the other Eastern Europeans, especially the Communists.

Hutton is a wacky old man who doesn't have much education. Nobody would even care what he says except that it's a way of making his son look bad.

Mel is following the Word of God, honor thy mother and thy father... he is not dishonoring him by correcting him publicly. "holocaust denial" is a neat word liberal overtones all in it... behind liberal lines is not attacking any religon, you are the one attacking, like you have something to prove. are you the irs or his accountant then how do you know the business was shady...i dont know and if he did build a church then more rich people need to be like him.
