I have my own personal list. :)

Once the new mod gets to know the players, I don't think it will be too hard for him.

Love you too Mom.

I guess we have been thru the "hurt and the pain" together and have come out the stronger for it, who would of thunk it. :)

Is there any point at which this "fervor" becomes something that is contrary to the teachings of Christianity?

Depends what proof texts you want to use. :>)

I'll jump at that opening.

Yes, without question, there is a point at which this "fervor" becomes something that is contrary to the teachings of Christianity.

It is also my opinion that there is another point at which this "fervor" becomes something that is contrary to what we want in our forums.

My peer is not around right now, so I will jump in with an answer to your query: "I would question limited participation threads"

If you are talking about threads "For Catholics Only" or "For Protestants Only" or the like, I pull those when I see them. Thanks, LM

Clearer - that being the case will calvin "g.r.p.l. only" threads be allowed to stand

whats developing is that those threads typically end up in the SBR, new threads spawn with the same title in the relig forum. Those in disagreement or divergent opinion are lead to the SBR thread

my 325 is not to be a yutz - rather I think some claification is in order - past mods have been too silent and we have poor mindreading skills (again with the black arts legalisms)so I dont try

Dear Sir:

I only just read this post. Catholics that are faithful to the Holy See and the teaching of the Church are not "New Age Catholics". This is a slur and I think you owe us an apology for use of this term.

As long as we don't have to tolerate the Judean People's Front!

What ever happened to the Popular Peoples Front?

4 - My tagline ascribes a bad result to a foundational aspect of Protestant theology. I believe it is fully, factually, and truthfully supportable. Is it offensive? Some would probably say yes. But is it an offense?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Your tag line is offensive as it mock Protestants and call then heretics .

Now in the past I would have looked and smiled and ignored..but no more ..who tight will the rules be? Well if they are tight you get a warning

Have you tried the organic sulfite free wines? I have found them to be quite good. No headaches, no stuffy nose.

No, I haven't, but my problem is not headaches, it's suddenly swollen and itchy mouth. This happens with certain strains of grapes, too.

Sidebar Moderator's #222: Rest assured, eliminating the Religion Forum is the last resort, only to be done if everyone refuses to cooperate.

There are many cooperative people posting here. Their voices tend to be drowned out, some driven away, some dragged into heated debate by the accusers, flamers, bashers, brawlers, etc., so that the perception is that nearly all engage in personal attacks and brawling.

But now, as I understand it, the flamers and brawlers who do not heed the warnings will get progressively longer timeouts until they lose the posting privilege entirely.

Then, and only then, some of the cooperative people who have been driven away will start coming back -- joining those who post well when not repeatedly provoked -- to enjoy an energetic and vigorous but also peaceful and constructive airing of views and differences in which those who are Christians (and those who are not) post in a Christlike and Godly manner and the moderators have nothing to do.

So the last resort need never be, so long as the brawlers who just won't cooperate are not permitted to spoil it for the rest of us.

Let's see what happens to this forum when the brawlers who just won't cooperate are no longer here to stir things up, fan the flames, whatever metaphor seems best.

Well, at least they're not selling strawberry Riuniti.

And your point is?

:-)

Strawberry Riunite enhances my very Southern redneck existence (and wages war with my *very* Eye-talian roots - LOL!)

"...I got rid of the few that were causing the problems and the rest now seemed like saints. A very easy solution to a problem that seemed all encompassing."

Mack has made some excellent points. Are the "Abuse" button abusers a large part of the problem? If so, out with them!

There are some circumstances where it is not possible, or not acceptable, to be perfectly and honestly blunt with someone. This forum provides that avenue providing this bluntness doesn't become abuse.

All in all, I think the policy is reasonable. The proof of the pudding will be seen soon enough.

How do you suggest deciding which handful to get rid of? Do we dump the heretics (for causing problems by advocating doctrinal heresies), or do we dump the orthodox (for causing problems by being judgemental concerning heresies)?

None of the above. Dump the Abuse button abusers!

Better yet just dump the abuse button. This is the internet for crying out loud. Too much thin skin around here.

white, most of your problems is that you see tough questions as abuse. You will have to move your position, or I forsee you personally acting like a moderator here and asking for people to be banned.

IMO a constant crier is as bad as a "hostile" poster.
