A portrait of Grace. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Colossians 2:13-15

13 And you who were dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh (your sensuality, your sinful carnal nature), [God] brought to life together with [Christ], having [freely] forgiven us all our transgressions,

14 Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross.

15[God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].

"To save sinners" sounds like the universal hypothesis by Moses Amyraut.

"Noel" in TULIP

a bondslave to the Christ

"Just why God saves some and leaves others to perish is a mystery. It is not unjust, for God owes no man anything. Reprobation is an act of God's justice just as predestination is an act of His grace. In both God manifests His virtues." --
St. Augustine

A few favorites:

Total Depravity

The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (Genesis 6:5, ESV)

Unconditional Election

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. (John 15:16, ESV)

Limited Atonement

But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior (Titus 3:4-6)

Irresistable Grace

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. (I Thessalonians 2:13, KJV)

Perseverance of the Saints

Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal. (John 6:27, ESV)

(As some might notice, these are not your standard "proof text" verses. In other words, it is not my intent to "prove" anything, but rather to edify the brethren, and the "sistern".)

Deuteronomy Chapter 9, especially verses 4-6:

Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee. Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.

So, I could have added, "...NOR to save all sinners, NOR to save reprobate sinners."

Wow, nobody's posted this one yet:

Eph. 2:8-9

For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and
this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not
by works, so that to one can boast.

It took me about ten years to realize that the clause "and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God" referred to the faith, not to the grace. Thus formed my tagline.

One more word from the Psalms

Psa 65:4   Blessed [is the man whom] thou choosest, and causest to approach [unto thee, that] he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, [even] of thy holy temple.

To him that excelleth. A Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah.

Lord, thou hast bene fauourable vnto thy land: thou hast brought againe the captiuitie of Iaakob. Thou hast forgiuen the iniquitie of thy people, and couered all their sinnes. Selah.

Thou hast withdrawen all thine anger, and hast turned backe from the fiercenes of thy wrath. Turne vs, O God of our saluation, and release thine anger toward vs. Wilt thou be angry with vs for euer? and wilt thou prolong thy wrath from one generation to another? Wilt thou not turne againe and quicken vs, that thy people may reioyce in thee? Shew vs thy mercie, O Lord, and graunt vs thy saluation.

Teach me thy way, O Lord, and I will walke in thy trueth: knit mine heart vnto thee, that I may feare thy Name. I wil prayse thee, O Lord my God, with all mine heart: yea, I wil glorifie thy Name for euer. For great is thy mercie toward me, and thou hast deliuered my soule from the lowest graue.

Fill vs with thy mercie in the morning: so shall we reioyce and be glad all our dayes.
(Psa 90:14 GB)

O satisfy us early with Your mercy. Since we must die, and die so soon, we plead for your mercy. He who has the heart to pray need never be hungry. The only satisfying food for the Lord's people is the favour of God.

Are we so soon to die? Then, Lord, do not starve us while we live. Satisfy us at once, we pray. Our day is short and the night will not delay. O give us in the early morning of our days to be satisfied with Your favour, that all through our little day we may rejoice and be glad.

Teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to Your wisdom.

PSALM 50

1 The mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof. 2Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined. 3Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. 4He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. 5Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. 6And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.
