"Didn't Fusek have his own problems with some sort of controversy?"

Yes,he did. Several years ago the diocese paid $45,000.00 to a teen aged boy,to withdraw a complaint of sexual harassment against Fushek.Fushek claimed his attempt at friendshop was misinterpreted and meant nothing. However,to save time and money and a lawsuit, the diocese paid the young man. Fushek had to go away for treatment and now everything goes on as usual.

However,I think the complaint saved us,or perhaps some other diocese from getting him as bishop. He was definitely being groomed for replacing O'Brien.

Fushek also started "Life Teen",which has been adopted by many dioceses across the country. It has some merit but often appears to be more of an oppurtunity to meet and greet and date. The liturgical abuses at the Masses are truly awful, but the catechesis seems to be more on target than not.Funny, how sometimes even a quarter loaf becomes the object of much thanksgiving.

I am so glad to hear your thoughts about LifeTeen; our parish was thinking of going that way with a new Youth Minister, but decided against it because of their outrageous costs. Reading what you have written, I am so thankful that we didn't go that way!
