For 99% of the people the most important REAL reason for believing in it : a trick that costed a few bucks, 100 years ago.
Money better spent on grammar education, I guess.

Why can't Creationism and Evolution both be right? Who, besides God, was around way back when?

This is a serious question........................
I do believe that God created everything 100%.
In the Bible, it is suggested that the job was done in 7 days.
How long is one of God's days?
We judge time based on the physical movement of the planet earth.
How does God judge the passage of time?

Is it anything like the trick where by treating the Bible too literally people become self-righteous, closed-minded, self-appointed arbiters of truth?

... the most devastating lie in the history of mankind. Evolution? The most devastating lie in history?
Even it were a lie, I don't see how anyone could come to that conclusion.
I figured the most devastating lie in history would be "I'm from the government; I'm here to help you". After all, variations of that lie killed over 100 million people in Communist countries in the 20th century.
How many people have died because they believed in evolution? Or is it your contention that people who believe in evolution go to Hell?

a trick that costed a few bucks,
If you are incapable of handling basic English, you'll have a lot of trouble convincing anyone that anything you have to say has any merit.
