cheap trick behind the most devastating lie in the history of mankind

Here are the some of the results of a 1999 Gallup poll on creationism, evolution, and public education :
49% believe that human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life.
Evolution theory is the most important weapon to twist people's minds.
For 99% of the people the most important REAL reason for believing in it : a trick that costed a few bucks, 100 years ago.
Even more incredible : the trick has remained the same until now.
Only lately, with very fast computers that allow virtual reality software to perform convincing enough, have we seen some effects added to the base trick.
I wonder who is the first Freeper to find out the trick behind the most devastating lie in the history of mankind.

Do you really want to consider the evidence or just dismiss it out of hand?

It's quite obvious that he considers himself "above" such considerations. Don't waste your time...

Yeah, but I was just like him without Christ. And someone put up with me while they answered my questions and the Spirit of God changed my heart. What's a little reviling and scoffing ultimately cost me on the scale of eternity? If he doesn't want to listen, then so be it. The consequences are his and not mine.

Of course, your Libertarian ideas of "live and let live" sound good in theory, but inevitably fail in actual practice. Why? Basic human nature. A nature which God Almighty says is depraved, and wholly fallen, unable to think or to act in any truly good manner. Hence, laws.

Nobdysfool, i suspect that you need to put some fences around that statement. Both OP and i are card carrying, dues paying, Libertarians. Neither of us are calling for a society with out laws. i believe that you might have been looking for the word Anarchist which is IMO, self refuting nonsense. A Libertarian would pass laws that prevent and /or punish the illegitimate use of force. In such a system, Government is recognised as the only legitimate instrument of force (aside from legitimate self defense), which is why Libertarians wish it to be severely limited.

Ity was not my intent to malign legitimaten libertarian views, and the ones you've mentioned briefly here are well within what I consider to be right and legitmate. My objection to Sentis' "live and let live" philosphy is that he applies it unevenly. He wants me to leave him alone, but he won't accord me the same courtesy, because he believes that his lack of belief in God trumps my faith. On that basis, my statement about human nature would stand, because live and let live will never be equally applied. There are always some who will say, "We are equal, but I reckon I'm a little more equal than you."

I believe a clear case can be made for laws to protect the public good and well-being. Obviously, laws against murder, rape, and theft are legitmate, to protect society as a whole from it's more uncontrollable and undisciplined members. Punishment and curtailment of that sort of activity is a legitmate use of force by the government, in the interest of its citizens, not its own self-interest. We could get into quite a long discussion about it, I'd wager. Might have to do that sometime....

Your group supports legislation against science being taught in school. Thats a huge difference. 386 posted on 10/19/2003 4:14 PM PDT by Sentis

"Calvinist Dark Lord" pinged me to this thread, so I will speak my piece.

Well, I am (together with my brother CDL) both a Fundamentalist Christian and a Libertarian. That should suffice to annoy all concerned.

"Sentis" says, "Your group supports legislation against science being taught in school", by which of course he means that he favors the enforced indoctrination of the unproven idiocy of Evolutionism in the Publik Skools.

You know what? GO FOR IT!! I've got no problem with that. I just got one thing to say -- HOW ABOUT YOU PAY YOUR OWN WAY, FOR ONCE?

I am an Orthodox Presbyterian. Over 80% of my Congregation's children are Home-Schooled (and we are aiming for 100%, even as you Publik Skoolers suck our Diaconal Budget dry as we try to provide Textbooks and Subsidies for those who would like to Home-School). And yet we STILL pay an average of $7,000 per child, per year, to subsidize the Satan-Schools of the State.

What have the Publik Skools done for us lately? "Provided our Nation with an Educated Populace"? Pardon me while I laugh, as dirt-poor Home-Schoolers continue to win every Academic Competition in the Nation, on every single subject, in every single year, always.

Let the Publik Skools teach Sodomy and Evolutionism. Let them be breeding-grounds of Drug Abuse and Fornication. I don't really care!! Just give us our money and our children back -- heck, give us half our money back, we can send our kids to Reformed Christian Classical Academies for $3,600 per year, HALF of what we are spending on the Satan-Schools of the State.

Of course you say -- "But, but... if we gave all Private-Schoolers and Home-Schoolers their Tax-money back, the Publik Skools would collapse!!"

Yes, that's precisely the idea. We're not using the Satan-Schools; why, then, do you charge us for the usage? Let them pay their own way... and if they collapse (as they would), what's the harm in that?

Give us our Money and our Children back, and inside of three generations the Home-Schooled Kids of Fundamentalists will put the World to shame (just as we put the American Publik Skools to shame already).

That's one of the beautiful things about being a Christian Libertarian -- I recognize that we do not need to outlaw Evolutionism. Just give us our Money and our Children back, and inside of three generations the Slack-Jawed Insanity of Evolutionism will be FORGOTTEN upon the ash-heap of history, like all the other "Ideologies for Idiots".

Libertarianism is a beautiful thing, for any Christian willing to try it. We're anti-abortion, we breed like rabbits, and we're perfectly willing to educate our own children (several hundred SAT points above what the State can ever accomplish). We will OUT-BREED and OUT-THINK all competition.

Abolish the Publik Skools... and Evolutionism hasn't got a prayer. We'll own this Country.

You're right-- look at how well that peaceful resistance has worked for the Tibetans against the Communist Chinese.

When asked what he thought of Western civilization, Ghandi is reputed to have said that he thought it would be a good idea. That quote always irritates me, as it's a clear case of biting the hand that feeds you. Ghandi knew his strategy would work because he KNEW the British-- he was educated in Britain. Had he tried that on anyone else he would have been an anonymous corpse, instead of a revered political and social leader, a champion of non-violence.
