By now many of you have seen the offensive tv sitcom "Whoopi". Despite our emails to NBC to protest their continued airing of this offensive program, it remains on the air. The next step is to contact the show's advertisers. Their contact info is on my website. Please let them know how you feel, here is my letter:

Dear Advertiser:
I am writing to inform you of my utter shock to discover that your company is advertising your company's products and services on the highly offensive NBC sitcom "Whoopi". As an American, I implore you to reconsider your sponsorship of this highly offensive program. This sitcom prides itself in its offensiveness, touting itself as cutting-edge comedy. An example of one of the gag lines from this week's show:
Mavis (played by Whoopi Goldberg): "I like to watch hockey so I can see white men beat each other up". Another character told Whoopi: "Don't tell your terrorist handy man" and "Deserts turn them on" in reference to her Iranian employee.
Your company should bear some responsibility for the programming you sponsor via your advertising dollars. Americans deserve better from our TV programming, and we expect more from its advertisers as well. Shame on your company for supporting such offensive programming.
Respectfully,
Jon Alvarez

I turn off the TV when I encounter something I don't like, but that's just me.

You must be kidding. Just because you don't like the program doesn't mean is should be taken off the air. Are you so inflexable that if you don't care for a venue that it should be canceled? Do everybody a favor and just don't watch.

Ditto. Forget the attempts to censor. If Goldberg wants to rant against conservatives and her network lets her, I don't care. Just allow conservatives to have their say when the time comes. Trying to get offensive programs off the air is usually counterproductive. Simply hold her up to the ridicule she so justly deserves.

I didn't even realize that show was still on.. Who watches it? And what about that idiotic show about the gay parents and their daughter. It has an imbecilic white guy in it... Is it still on?

I think Whoopi Goldberg is overrated. Agreed. Anyone that thinks Whoopi is funny must have an IQ below 20. All she does is act stupid. That act has already been worn out by too many others. She's never said one thing that would make me laugh.
The fact that Ted Danson dated her for a long time tells me that he must be some kind of mental lightweight.

By now many of you have seen the offensive tv sitcom "Whoopi". Yes, I've watched this show. And, I agree it IS offensive. So, you know what I did? I stopped watching it.
I bet if we all did this, Whoopi would be history.

By now many of you have seen the offensive tv sitcom "Whoopi".Nope, not I.
I know where my on-off button is located.
Whoopi Goldberg is a racist pig, but if some dumb ass wants to pay to put her on the tv airwaves, then, hey, I'll exercise my right to turn it off or seek out some other entertainment.
I don't care if she lives or dies. So why would I care about her silly show?
I think we sometimes get too wrapped up about some of these idiots.
The Asners, the Penns, the Baldwins, Sarandan, Streisand, to hell with 'em all.
The worst thing you can do to 'em is to turn them off, to not buy their music, their movies, their "product".
So I don't.
But I ain't gonna quit using toothpaste just because the company that makes it advertises on some show that I don't watch anyway.
And I don't think a company has any responsibility to monitor the content of a show upon which it advertises.
Rather, it is the individual, on a personal level, to decide whether or not that content is suitable. Got nothing to do with Tyson's Buffalo Wings or Crest Toothpaste.
Boycotting a product because of the political beliefs of the star of a show upon which the product is advertised is counter-productive to a capitalistic society.
We have better things to do with our energies.
Now, boycotting Heinz 57 products because of John Kerry, well, maybe I can get into that.

Let them be the first amendment hypocrites I see no attempts to coerce Congress into enacting a law forbidding the airing of Whoopi. I do see a citizen utilizing his free speech to denounce more left wing garbage. If you got a problem with that then maybe you are already in the mud IMO.

"You must be kidding. Just because you don't like the posting doesn't mean the poster should be ridiculed. Are you so inflexible that if you don't care for a thread that it should be canceled? Do everybody a favor and just don't respond."
You are showing the same inability of liberals to distinguish between censorship and disdain, between being silenced and being ridiculed.
I have to join the chorus here. The show shouldn't be cancelled - it should be ignored, and when it is, it will quickly die.
1st Amendment hypocrisy -does- belong solely to the Left. What is this going to accomplish, get them to scream about how their "dissent" is being "silenced" even more? Oh, great, we need more accusations about something that only happened in their fantasies in the first place.
Oh, and no one suggested cancelling this thread. They just think it's a bad idea. This country is finally starting to discuss (and actually partly due to Rush) the hypocrisy of reverse bigotry in this country masking as racial sensitivity. Whoopi's show will only serve as an example, and people who watch it will be more cognizant of that racism than before. I think it's -good- that it remain on the air, as an object example of leftist racism, than as a concrete example that leftist nuts could point to of right-wing oppression . So yes, I'll express my "dissent" to this thread.

Oh, baloney! Why just protesting (or even grumbling) about a TV show that has a black character in it makes you a racist.
