Syrian-backed terrorists have vowed to escalate attacks on Israel from Lebanon, describing last Sunday's raid near Damascus as the "first round in a new Middle East war".
Senior leaders of the Lebanese-based Hizbollah group warned that the raid, on an alleged Palestinian training camp, would inflame a border that had been relatively quiet for 30 years.
Syrian president Bashar Assad said that the raid was an Israeli attempt to provoke war "It is wrong to bear an attack without a response. This changes the region," said Mohammad Raad, the deputy leader of Hizbollah...

Yeah whatever. These terrorists are just spewing propaganda. They always attack Israeli positions and Israeli cities in the north, no matter what Israel does.

Arafat is dying right now from stomach cancer. Has not been seen in public for about ten days. Afraid to go to the hospital because he will have to be admitted for extended treatment. Also afraid that Israel would not let him back in. He is isolated by his own heart, mind and will for evil. He is true spawn of the devil.
When Arafat dies -- very soon now -- the Palis will erupt into crazy tantrums and go on a killing spree. The Palis will allege Arafat was "murdered." Israel will have to take quick and decisive action to protect itself. The clock is ticking.

What about the sovereignty of Lebenon? Beirut, prior to the Syrian invasion in early/mid 1970s, was considered the "Paris of the Middle East", not to mention
the center of banking, relative stability, etc.
Can't have a successful somewhat real democratic republic in the middle of dictatorial mayhem.

Unlike in 1982 with Reagan (his one glaring failure), we have a President now who understands what the Israelis are up against. If Israel is forced to launch a full-scale invasion of Lebanon and/or Syria, the United States will not stand in the way this time, and will veto any SC resolutions, citing the 25-year old SC resolution which demands the then-immediate Syrian withdrawl from Lebanon. Or so my West Wing sources say.
Israeli intelligence on Syria has Washington fully convinced, and Israel will be given a green light this time.

What about the sovereignty of Lebenon? You are kidding, right? Lebanon is part of "Greater Syria" and has been for most of the past three decades.

The fact that Syria has not made a single statement to rein in any terrorist organization making these threats gives pausability to complicity in proxy force usage and therefore makes Syria's current regime a supporter of terrorism and a legimite target. The only reason to not attack Syria is to observe escalation under the Geneva Conventions.... And this is basically only a set of protocols that state that I should not use one method if the other side also restrains itself. In the case of PA/Syrian/Lebannese based attacks, I would consider the gloves off and the period of escalation in effect until it is evident that Syria and all Arab states cannot wage a war on convention grounds. Then I would fireball the bastards if civilian attacks continued and at some point it would stop, maybe not until one side is destroyed completely and the ground salted as the Romans once did to definant City State as histroy records.

It's been all over the news for the past week. Also, 'Arafat is dead' was reported on a French web site. He has not been seen for about ten days. Last time he was seen reports said his face looked purple. There are a couple of those reports up
