Republican Bobby Jindal has agreed to participate in a number of televised debates, but there could be a problem.
He might be the only candidate there.
Democrat Kathleen Blanco said Friday she would have to check her calendar to see if she is available on the nights Jindal has set up with television stations.

"The Louisiana Democratic Party, though, blasted College Democrats of America President Ashley Bell, an LSU law school student, for making insensitive remarks about Jindal."
Well, that's pretty amazing. Don't let McAwful hear about this.

Blanco said Jindal has more than $1 million in the bank to start the runoff campaign but she needs to do some fund-raisers.
"It's easy to say 'let's talk' when I've got to work" to raise money, she said. ROFL! Poor baby . . . anyone think Blanco will have the money to grease enough palms in New Orleans to GOTV as well as go on TV to attract whites? Personally I highly doubt it.

"Jindal's campaign said there's no need for outside interference and he wants Washington officials to stay out of the race. He said he welcomes President Bush's support but he won't invite him to campaign for him."
I think Jindal is wise to do this. This is a local election, and trying to make a national issue out of it won't help.
"Bell's invitation describes Jindal as "Republicans' token attempt to mend bridges long burnt with the Arab-American community.""
Shut up, you racist asshole.

Jindal has learned the lesson of 2002 -- bringing in all the Bushes and Cheney did not help senatorial candidate Terrell, and she lost 52-48 to popular Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-LA.
I believe that Jindal has thus far been a more effective campaigner than Terrell. He seems energetic and willing to chart new ground in the campaign. I am confident that he will not take a nap on election day, Nov. 15. Whether he can overcome the institutional objections to his candidacy remains to be seen.
