Prayer Request for Parents of Young Cancer Patients
Posted on 10/12/2003 12:26:00 AM PDT by meanoldfatbastrd
last june i found out that the daughter of a friend was in the hospital and was diagnosed with a cancer called neuroblastoma. my friend started posting progress reports and her husband posted diary entries daily on their daughters website. www.sydneydungan.com i instantly became hooked on visiting this website and praying for my friend and her family. their story has touched me so many ways. it has helped me to be a better father and husband. also, it has helped me to get past some major mountains and through some pretty deep valleys in my spiritual journey. they, along with other parents of children with neuroblastoma, have started a grassroots fundraising effort to find a cure for this deadly cancer. this effort is called "lunch for life". my prayer request is for these parents to have success in this effort. it is very important for them to be successful because it gives them something for their children that is hard to find in so many of their stories, HOPE! although i have been a lurker here at freerepublic for sometime, i have only recently started posting. i have posted several news articles pertaining to this story and checked every topic that i could think of that might generate interest. i have received very little response and am not sure what i am doing wrong. but one thing i do know, when my wisdom and strength fails, there is an inexhaustable supply that is yeilded to me through prayer. my prayer is that people read this and respond to my request.
may the blessings of heaven rest upon you!

Heavenly Father, thank You that hearts have been burdened for these precious children ... may Your healing hand be upon each one and may Your comfort and assurance surround each loved one. Encourage those engaged in research ... bless their commitment with the medicines that give to each parent their fondest desire ... to see their child grow strong and healthy. May it be so, dear Lord, in the Blessed name of Jesus, Amen ...

this morning i woke up on the wrong side of the bed, most likely because i was freeping til the wee hours of the morning. i had to make myself get up and go to church. i had planed on sitting out and not singing with the chior because i missed last weeks rehersal and did not know the new anthem. however, when i arrived at church and read the program i noticed we were singing my favorite anthem (it is well with my soul) instead and rather than sitting out i sang with the chior. then when i got home after church i wanted to see how this thread was progressing and read your post and your link and found the following

After dropping the kids off at school, I was listening this morning to my favorite hymn,
It is Well With My Soul.

The story behind the words of the hymn, which was written in 1873 by Horatio Spafford, serves as an inspiring testimony of one mans' unwavering FAITH in HIM, even while enduring tagedy and sorrow.

I wanted you all to know that I was thinking of you with heartfelt gratitude for the uplifting prayers.

As someone who lost two children; one at one day old, and one at seven months; I join with you in praying for these families who are going through one of the hardest trials that can happen to anyone in this life...the sickness or the loss of a precious child.

I remember the thread about Zoe, it broke my heart and I actually wrote something more than, prayer bump. Zoe was in the same hospital as Jacquelyn, the 7 yr old with leukemia that I have asked prayers for.
