Ken Hamblin comments on Rush Limbaugh

Did anyone else hear the ludricrous statements that Ken Hamblin made on Rita's show just now?

Among other things, he said that "Rush was given the keys to the kingdom and let us down."

Then he proceeded to puff himself up, making a total jackass out of himself as far as I'm concerned.

I videotaped the whole segment and would replay it and transcribe it, but have to run out for a while right now.

Why do we continually worry about what the democrats will use - they will find something to use no matter what we do.

Very true. However one of my Rules To Live By is "Build on strengths. Strive to reduce weaknesses." Sadly this incident has made Rush a "weakness" to the conservative cause. Hopefully he will overcome it, and we can once again build on the strength of his insight, wisom and commentary.

He wasn't taking prescribed medication,his prescription ran out a long time ago.Rush had to break the law to get his drugs and that's the point Hamlin was making.Rush has a long tough road ahead of him,I wish him well.

Thanks... Don't get me wrong, I like Rush, agree with a lot of his views and would support the average man-in-the-street who found himself in Rush's position. But that average man wouldn't have been publicly advocating the WOD for years, would be facing hard time for the things Rush has apparently done (with Rush's blessing), and we all know that, if guilty, Rush will probably get off with a slap on the wrist because of his fame & money.

Basically, Consort, your mission appears to be to hurt people when they're down. There's no question that Rush must face the consequences of his actions, but you're seeking to damage him beyond whatever "sin" he's committed.

I'll guarantee you that when he kicks this thing he's going to be stonger and more persuasive than ever. And that will shoot your "damaged goods" argument to hell. Instead of acting all embarassed when conservative spokespersons and leaders show feet of clay, why don't you grow a spine?

I cannot remember the last time that rush was asked for an interview on any network. I remember one time when rush interviewed an official.

We have to keep this in perspective, Rush did not invent conservatism, He merely talked it up. I am not a conservative for the benefit of Rush Limbaugh. He provides me with useful information. He provides a valuable service. Thats all.

Now for some people (especially liberals) Rush Limbaugh became a 'symbol' of conservatism, and liberals all over the world will be dancing on his grave one day. But they will do that regardless of whether or not Rush got addicted to prescription drugs because of a chronic pain issue.

Rush Limbaugh is not a 'Symbol' he is a human being. And he has succumb to his circumstances as humans occasionally do. I dont see this as any kind of 'failure' of conservatism, in fact it is a clear opportunity to demonstrate the true nature of compassion in conservatism.

At least that is my plan. You all can do what you want.

She did know. But she liked riding the gravy train, didn't want to rock the boat, and didn't want to kill the goose who was laying the 35 million dollar a year golden egg.

I thought about that as I typed, and figured the brighter people in the audience would notice. Those were my knee-jerk reactions, and the first examples I could think of. That doesn't change my opinion. In fact, all of this has driven me to write an essay on hypocrisy, which I'll post tomorrow or tonight, as time allows.

You are right. Who cares what the liberals think or what they laugh about? I never even knew what a liberal was until I listened to Rush.

A couple of us seem to be coming down hard on Marta.

One of us wondered why Rush resorted to using his maid rather than a corrupt, compliant doctor as a source for his drugs.

A dear friend of mine became addicted to alcohol. I was one of the last to figure it out. When I did figure it out, I tried to help and ended up being an enabler rather than a true helper. I became very frustrated because I could not "fix" my friend.

Rush probably worked hardest at concealing his addiction from Marta. Marta probably was in denial about Rush's plight until the evidence became so overwhelming that she had to admit to herself that he was addicted. Then she probably tried to "fix" him. Hence, Rush's two unsuccessful journeys through detox.

My recovering alcoholic cousin advised me that I could not "fix" my friend; she would have to hit bottom and resolve to fix herself. She finally did hit bottom, went to AA, and, thank the Lord, is sober.

Marta may, in a way, be grateful for the humiliation of the "National Enquirer" article and the legal pressure of having police investigating. It got Rush to acknowledge his problem and check in to rehab.

All Marta and the stepkids need from us, right now, is our prayers. I'm sure she did the best she could under the circumstances.

As far as why would Rush use his maid as a source, it's simple: any port in a storm. The desperation of addiction reduces the wealthiest, most intelligent, most talented people among us to the level of common street criminals.

Nothing I may learn about Rush's behavior while addicted will particularly shock or surprise me....

By the mainstream media. Yeah, yeah, I know. What do we care? The media has been flailing at Rush for a decade and a half, and what has it gotten them? This time they have an issue that has bite to it.

True enough. But, if Rush becomes their focus, does this mean they'll back off Bush?

If not, then "backfire" is possible.
