I can buy that. But I can't buy the blowing up an American city. I don't think they could get that close after a hijacking with a super tanker.

Actually, super tankers aren't explosive.

Even the explosive qualities of Liquid Natural Gas tankers are greatly exaggerated.

Also, these things move incredibly slowly.

Strikes me as more frantic hype from people that don't have a grasp of what they're talking about.

I am not sure. I talk to celebrated energy counsultant who tells me studies of explosive damage take into account only an explosion of 1/5 of a tanker, which is worst accident probable. In terrorist explosion well planned, all of tanker could explode leading much bigger explosion.

John, maybe it is frantic hype. Then again, think back to pre-9/11. Wouldn't it have seemed like frantic hype to speculate on hijackers flying planes in to skyscrapers? I don't want anyone to be frantic about this, just vigilant. Anyway, here's to hoping you're right!

Wow! I didn't know that. Neither are nuclear power plants explosive.

Ok, would you believe an army of soccer moms with butane in the soccer balls?

I would watch liquid oxygen barges. One or two of those, well mixed with a liquid petroleum tanker would make one hell of a fuel air cocktail-one of Tom Clancy proportions.

That pretty much describes most media.
