I know several people who went though detox and have been clean for many many years now, it all depends on the person and if they really wants to be clean.

Sorry Monty, but that's simply not true. It has worked for 10's of thousands. It especially works well for those who recognize the problem and who have made the decision to change for good for life!

Yes, he did. Had back surgery about 6-7 years ago, which didn't work. He then got hooked.

I am 24 and when I was 21 learned that I had two herinated disks in my lower back. I player DIII lacrosse, surfed, hunted, and lifted alot of weights. It was extremly painful and I have resisted taking strong medication. I am still able to surf and hunt but everyday contact of lacrosse or other sports is impossible. Long story short, I live in pain because I am afraid of strong drugs. My prayers are with Rush. I can understand how even the strongest people can not overcome their pain.

How did the news present it?

The National Enquirer expose had nothing to do with his
"confession"?

My prayers are with him.
As are mine!
I never would have dreamt Rush was addicted to painkillers. I, too, cope with constant pain, only in my case, I seldom take any meds because I have such adverse reactions to them -- ranging from digestive upsets to loss of cognitive skills. Sure makes for a better understanding of "tolerance levels" of a different type. While there may be some who'd argue about whether or not I'm coherent, if I were on narcotic painkillers, I wouldn't be awake long enough for anyone to have to speculate -- or judge. ;)

Rush, I know you read FR threads, especially those about you. You will be in my prayers daily, and I can guarantee you that there will be so many Freepers praying for you and Marta. But you can lick this demon, Rush. We know this even better than you do! We've been with you from the start and have been realtime witnesses to your strength of character. God bless you, Rush. Return at your earliest healthy time. we'll carry on in your absence, El Rushbo.

I will be praying for him...and I'll say one for you too. Courage.
Bless him. I wish him all the best. He's doing this with honor and integrity. "I'm not a victim...I take full responsabilty"...can't talk fully due to the investigation...appreciates the support...now wants prayers. Going in for 30 day handling.
Please folks let's keep this thread civil.
