So you're not against drugs per se, but against those that can't pay for them with an ordinary job? We're also against carjacking, even for people who can't afford to buy one

Get back to me when you have evidence of Rush breaking into a house and pointing a gun at a person to get money to service his habit and then we can talk. That's the argument I've been using as an anti-WOD supporter. No harm, no crime. Maybe I'm just getting forgetful in my old age, but Dane, aren't you one always concerned about the 'societal impact' of drugs? The 'culture' created by drug usage?
Think about the other customers Rush's dealer had. Do you think they were all millionaires with talkshows? Rush was supporting the Drug Culture, and even supporting terrorism, if we're to believe the promotional government material.
Rush himself may have been 'above the fray' compared to your usual drug user, but he was using all of its machinery, enriching drug dealer's wallets. Rush hasn't decreased the amount of damage in society -- in fact, following WOD logic, Rush is certainly contributing to it.
How did his dealer get the Oxycontin? Legally? Or is it possible that his dealer used illegal means ot acquire Rush's drugs?
There was plenty of illegal behavior going on in order to get Rush his narcotics.

in serious pain cases they put a inmplant a pump on your body and you have a constant flow of the pain killer into your body. Typically its a morphine pump.
You stop when the physical cause for the pain is gone and there is no more reason to be taking the drugs. That is when. Is the physical cause of Rush's pain gone? According to him, not gone.
Ruptured disks are excrusiating. Some people have to take pain killers every day. No pills, no life. Some here would call them addicts.
To: truth_seeker
how about none of our damn business?
To: GeronL
Again, so you're holding on to the hope that the whole housekeeper story was complete fiction. You honestly think that Rush was getting 30+ Oxycontin pills daily, from an honest doctor? You're pretty funny. Even if THAT were the case, then we'd have a Dr. Feelgood situation going on.
I don't expect Rush to be arrested or charged -- the police are after the dealers.
Given the amount of credible information about the story, I think that the notion that Rush did it all legally is pretty laughable.

When was Noelle put under the
drug court's supervision? Before
or after she impersonated the Doc?
Was she ever initially in legal
trouble for first-time possession?

And this relates to the links I gave that actively demonstrate that Clinton enacted the most draconian anti-marijuana laws in history HOW? Uh by Clinton's non-leadership on the drug issue. Hey the election results don't lie. In 2002 with Clinton out of the White House all the pro-drug states intitatives failed misreably, while with Clinton in the White House the most pro-drug state intitatives passed.

So, can someone please explain "pinging" to me, since Dane requires that I do so in order for him to fail to acknowledge my points?

She was not coerced by Rush into getting him drugs like she said, that part is ludicrous.

So you give Clinton credit for somehow enacting state initiatives, but give him a free pass for signing the most draconian FEDERAL laws into action?
I think you need to study up and find out what part of government the President is in charge of.

Ruptured disks are excrusiating. Some people have to take pain killers every day. No pills, no life. Some here would call them addicts. See, this is where Rush COULD have done it legally. If he were really in that much pain, go to a pain management specialist. I don't think the guy selling Oxycontin in a parking lot is a legitimate pain management specialist. If Rush had gone the legal route, obviously we wouldn't be having this discussion.
Someone taking massive doses of painkillers to legitmately manage pain may indeed be an addict, but an understandable addict. In that case, the addiction might not be detrimental, but necessary.
But Oxycontin is a Class A drug. Law-and-order people don't just acquire Class A drugs off the street. And any legit doctor will tell his patients that self-medicating is NOT the way to go, especially when you're self-medicating with a Class A opiate. It can lead to bad times, like losing your hearing.

Nope. Is that the only drug strong enough to deal with thise type of pain? The DEA keeps tabs on ALL pain killers in this schedule. He couldn't game doctors to maintain this habbit for 6 years.

I have had 5 major surgeries and was given fair amounts of narcotic analgesics for the associated pain. The experiences taught me one important thing about narcotics -- pain or no pain, narcotics make you feel good and that is the very reason so many people become addicted. Rush chose to continue his use of narcotics beyond medically advised or pain management requirements. He obviouly liked how they made him feel. He's a junkie. The pain and doctors didn't make him a junkie. He made himself a junkie.
Richard W. Great. Richard, you are better than Rush. That's what you want us to say, so I will say it, and you should feel better.
In the meantime, the pressing issue is for Rush to recover from his condition, however you rate it.
For unlike you, he's an imperfect human, subject to the weakness of the flesh.
Peace.

At arraignment. They check you past when assigning a judge. EVERYONE who is qualified is sent to that court first. Noelle was arrested when she went to pick up the drugs that is how she got into the system. He case was a first time case or she would not have been eligible.
If Rush had been buying the drugs illegally and the authorities knew it, the would have picked him up at the first opportunity to catch him red handed. Palm Beach Prosecutor's office is full of little democrats who would relish the chance. This is why I am skeptical that they have anything at all regarding a rush drug buy. It they had something they would have done it in May/June when this supposedly happened.
For all we know the only thing the Palm Beach Prosecutors have IS the maid's story, a picture of the cigar box, and tapes of the maid's OWN drug deals and nothing else.

The ENQUIRER story lied when they said he coerced the housekeeper into getting drugs

Rush luckily didn't physically harm anyone.
But what the hey, you are a Libertarian and you live on your own island and every action you do never affects anyone else.
