Apparently your drug of choice causes extreme lack of tact and thoughtNice ad hominem.
Do you know what Oxycontin is? It's an opiate, some say as strong as heroin. There is a reason it's called 'hillbilly heroin'. If you want to compare an intense opiate to caffeine, then you're the one who needs to exercise a little more thought.
Rush is a law-and-order man, isn't he? Buying precription drugs off the street is ILLEGAL. It's AGAINST THE LAW. There are plenty of homeless Oxycontin abusers. There are plenty of skanky Vicodin users. You just want to envision Rush as something other than human. He's not. He's human. Plenty of rich and successful people have lost it all due to drugs. Should they go to prison, or just the homeless hanging out in warehouses? Get consistent. Rush was (allegedly) scoring drugs off the street, ILLEGALLY. Do you need to do anything more in order to be considered a drug addict?

Does your kindhearted support for Rush Limbaugh's addiction to 'hillbilly heroin' pills mean that we won't be seeing you in the 'War On (some) Drugs' threads anymore calling for the execution of people caught with more than an ounce of marijuana? Don't say that you've never said it, because you have
IMO, you're wrong. Go right ahead and look through the FR archives.
Sorry to be a skunk in your, Rush bashing and kicking when he is down, garden party.

Don't be sorry.
I like the give and take of thoughtful exchange. I just don't like shouting and vitriol and ad hominen arguments. Never gets anybody anywhere except angry and not listening.
To: Orangedog
Did he say he was addicted to Oxycontin specifically?
Part of what you have heard and read in the past week is correct. I am addicted to prescription pain medication. I first started taking prescription painkillers 5-6 years ago following spinal surgery
Nope. Is that the only drug strong enough to deal with thise type of pain?
To: Skooz
I've known people like that in my life ;
Cowardly jackals roaming the country aimlessly frothing at the mouth like a pack of deballed clipped vultures . It truly is what gets them on their feet in the morning , the possibility to rip another slab of meat off of another .
Folks like that have a crevice inside of them that will never be filled skooz . It's just what it is .

Pssst... hey Dane... I'm still waiting for you to "acknowledge reality" and explain that you were wrong when you said "you know it isn't true" about Clinton's draconian history regarding marijuana.
Come on. Don't be a hypocrite.

Now, if said these Oxycontin users should be sent to prison, of course, he would be a hypocrite. Has he said that? He's said that users of illegal drugs should be 'sent up'. Is Rush asking for the handcuffs to be put on? Is he reserving a trip to the pokey? No, he's doing the stereotypical Hollywood thing -- going to rehab.
Do you think Rush believes that drug users shouldn't be prosecuted? We have drug laws on the books, and they apply to EVERYONE, with no exemptions for conservative talk-show hosts.
Let me ask you -- has Rush ever said that Oxycontin users should get a pass?

Yeah, that was about the same time they were legal here, but it remained legal in the US through the beginning of the 20th century,/i> And in the early 20th century opium dens started appearing in the US and there was a public outcry.

Here is how I remember it: at a Town Hall kind of meeting last night (October 9), Kerry said something like, "If you want better health care in this country, you have two choices: talk to Rush Limbaugh's housekeeper or vote for me for President." Many in the audience (most likely full of Ds), of course, laughed and clapped enthusiastically.
The Ds never cease to amaze me at how compassionate they are!

different drugs get different reactions. I doubt a guy selling caffiene tablets and a guy selling heroin and a guy selling Bayer should all get the same jail sentence. Oxycontin is an opiate, same as heroin. You can buy caffeine over the counter, legally. Same with aspirin.
Guess what? You can't buy Oxycontin, legally, over the counter. What's your next weak argument?

To: zoyd
Buying precription drugs off the street is ILLEGAL.yes, but the illegality has not been determined. A story in the ENQUIRER is not evidence
