MEXICO CITY - Mexican federal lawmakers are bemoaning Hollywood action star Arnold Schwarzenegger's election as California governor and issued a stern call to the novice politician to respect the rights of Mexican migrants in North America's largest state.

"This is something about which Mexican migrants should be very concerned," said Rep. Carlos Jimenez, secretary of the foreign relations committee in Mexico's lower house of Congress.

"We aren't trying to interfere in the internal politics of the United States."

Oh? So what would you call the continued introduction of 11 million illegal aliens to this country via your border? Tourism?

Mexican migrants in North America's largest state

Schwarzenegger, who migrated to the United States from Austria in 1968

I like how the author uses the same phrase to describe someone who respected our imigration laws and came to this country legally and hordes of lawless invaders who sneak over the border.

What I don't get is why most of the stupid politicians on either side of the border don't understand that illegal immigrants from anywhere HAVE NO RIGHTS in the US.

"The left-leaning Democratic Revolutionary Party..."

No liberal bias here. Could you imagine the author stating the "Right-leaning Nazi Party".

Well they know that Arnold is going to try to fix the budget. The spending has been totally out of control in CA and Arnold is going to put the brakes on spending.

This translates to mean that all the free rides for illegals are in danger so naturally they are worried. Isn't it wonderful? :-)

Mexican migrants in North America's largest state

We are NOT "North America" nor is California our largest state

We are the United States of America who just happens to be located in an area called north america...

Interesting how the globalist sneaks that little tid bit in there...pushing the agenda ..and that we arent really a sovereign nation

Merely a geographic location that includes Canada ...and therefore sovereignty really isnt an issue...

They are already thinking NWO...and believe that they have a right to live where ever they please even in our Country..

Just one big happy world

"announcing that it will be monitoring the new governor's politics regarding migration issues"

And who the aich-E-double-ell do they think they are to "monitor" anything in MY country?

Thses are ENEMIES of the USA, a group that wants to take over our country - they better watch their little selves, the rest of americans are NOT as panty-waisted as parts of kalifornia are. . . .

I only wish that were true, Carlos.

"For the Mexican community in California, which forms such an important part of the state, it could represent a sorry defeat," he said Wednesday. "The very discriminatory message that he has delivered at certain times against Mexican migrants is not something that encourages us. It's totally the opposite."

< -snip- >

Jimenez, a national spokesman for the Institutional Revolutionary Party, said the party is proposing that a delegation of legislators meet with Schwarzenegger after he takes office in mid-November to express their concerns.

They'll be pleasantly surprised. Schwarzenegger is on the record, both pre and post election, as just another Republican appeaser on Illegals.

"There's a bill that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has introduced that I think is terrific. It gives temporary working permits to immigrants so they can come in and out of this country, out of this state, and also, you know, there's another idea. Undocumented immigrants who come here before August 2003 can apply for visas especially if they don't have a criminal background. And if they have a job right now, they can apply for that visa. So there are different programs I want to push in that direction to help undocumented immigrants."
Governor-elect Schwarzenegger Press Conference - October 8th, 2003
Schwarzenegger said he opposed the bill because it would "bring danger to our state" because it doesn't require background checks of illegal immigrants.

He did, however, say he supported proposed federal legislation that would help those in the United States illegally become legal residents more quickly.
Sacramento Bee - September 17th, 2003
Schwarzenegger criticized Davis for signing a bill granting driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants, saying, "We're leaving ourselves wide open to terrorism." And he repeated his support for a guest-worker visa program -- "then they can (get) driver's licenses hooked together with insurance."
Sacramento Bee - September 9th, 2003
Schwarzenegger, who legally immigrated to this country from Austria in 1968, opposed issuing driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants. But he didn't rule out public services or amnesty for those who come into the country illegally.

He said he would work with other states to pressure the federal government, which controls immigration, to "come up with a solution once and for all." He also said allowing undocumented immigrants to stay in the United States is "the right thing to do."
Sacramento Bee – August 28th, 2003

Said Proposition 187, the 1994 measure that denied many services to illegal immigrants, was "history" because it has been largely voided by the courts. He supported the proposition at the time voters approved it. "Now we have to move forward with the whole thingand to look at it, what we're going to do with all the people that are undocumented immigrants here in this state. What should we do? Should we have them to stay here, which I think is the right way to do, but how do you then include them in our society, how do you make it official, how do you make it legal?" he said. He added he would try to team up with other states with large immigrant populations and lobby the federal government to address the issue.
Associated Press - August 27th, 2003
"Proposition 187 has been resolved by the courts. It is time to move on. More than 2.3 million undocumented immigrants currently live in California. They cannot continue to live underground. I will work with federal officials to address this problem."
Schwarzenegger campaign website - joinarnold.com
  • Deportation is not an option. We need to find a way to legitimize these individuals and get them on a path toward legal residency status in the United States.
  • Let me be clear: I do not support an amnesty program. The last time we tried that in the late 80s it didn't work, and there's little reason to think it would work now.

  • I am encouraged by the approach laid out by Senator McCain to provide a clear path for legitimizing undocumented immigrants who currently live their lives in the shadows. McCain's bill S 1461 - The Border Security and Immigration Act of 2003
    • A new H-4A visa for immigrants seeking temporary employment with important protections to ensure that immigrant workers are not exploited and that Californians are not displaced by unscrupulous employers;

    • A new H-4B visa for undocumented immigrants who entered the country before August 2003, have held a job since that time, and do not have a criminal record.

    • The opportunity for holders of these new visas to gain legal permanent residency status.

Exactly. I don't know what they're worried about. Yes, once upon a time he supported 187, but Rove's brain-eating pro-illegal-immigration zombies have gotten to him.

I'm glad if illegals and their advocates are temporarily quaking in their boots, but unfortunately, their fear will be short-lived. Schwarzenegger has made it clear he thinks illegals should be allowed to stay here, and that they should be "made legal," (amnesty.) So the pro-illegal crowd has nothing to worry about.

"For the Mexican community in California, which forms such an important part of the state, it could represent a sorry defeat," he said Wednesday."

Would that be the important part of the state whose illegal presence constitutes 25%, or 8 billion dollars, of Californias 32 billion dollar debt?

Somehow the illegal aliens have to be charged an income tax and charged a duty for taking money out of the state.
