And how does the rest of the world play out in your hypothetical situation? As the world's super power and economic leader we carry some clout.
Even Holland looks the other way on pot without outright legalizing it.

Do we all feel a great deal safer knowing that 65 y.o. Tommy Chong is imprisoned? I sure do.
One time I was being chased by the cops and the guy was so stupid he wouldn't open the door for me.
One time he tells me to eat this stuff, and I say what is it? He says, just eat it, man. I say, what is it. He says eat it, so I eat it. Then he says, oh, don't don't eat that.

Yeah, that really works. So if the law said that you must give up your first child to the government for military purposes, but were allowed to keep the rest, and this became law, would you feel the same? Extreme example I know, but it is to prove a point that to follow the law, untill the law is changed, even when you disagree with that law isn't always the best answer. The only reason you feel this way is because you don't smoke pot I assume. That is a copout at best, "follow the law" my rump. That is a lame excuse to blame others and meddle in thier life. Your neighbor smoking pot effects you in no way the same as another neighbor drinking a beer. But it's a way for you to judge. Follow the law when it effects others, but not when it is harming noone but yourself. Self responsibility is the key. Someone I doubt you would feel this way if someone got in charge that you didn't agree with.
Argh, all the hypocrites in the world annoy me.

When did this become a crime in America? Why is this relevant? Vis-a-vis Chong's celebrity, its relevant because it will be part of his appeal. The other defendants who plead guilty to the same offense were sentenced to house arrest. Chong is the only one to draw prison time. The statements of dickhead U.S. Attorney will come back to haunt her.

I have this silly, antiquated notion that people should obey the law and work within the system to change it if they feel they can't.Do you feel I am morally wrong for owning "assault weapons"? What about Rosa Parks, is she a scummy lawbreaker?

Why not? It keeps me out of jail and free.
The only reason you feel this way is because you don't smoke pot I assume.
I do not smoke pot, and it is not the only reason I feel this way. Not obeying the law is anarchy, and I am not an anarchist. I'm simply not wired that way.
That is a copout at best, "follow the law" my rump. That is a lame excuse to blame others and meddle in thier life.
So, by obeying the law, I'm "blaming others and meddling in their lives?" Real clear thinking there.
Your neighbor smoking pot effects you in no way the same as another neighbor drinking a beer. But it's a way for you to judge.
I'm not judging anybody. I'm simply not breaking the law.
Self responsibility is the key.
Yes it is. Which is why you and everybody else should obey the law and not smoke pot.
Someone I doubt you would feel this way if someone got in charge that you didn't agree with.
Not true. I would still obey the law but work to change it if I disagreed with it.

Do you feel I am morally wrong for owning "assault weapons"? If they're not illegal to own where you are, then no. If they are, then you should move or work to change the law where you are.
What about Rosa Parks, is she a scummy lawbreaker?
Equating the advocation of basic human and civil rights with smoking marijuana is shameful. Dopers are not equivalent to those who fought for civil rights. They are not linked in any way. Rosa Parks and those who fought for civil rights did what they did because they believed what the Constitution says about the freedom of all Americans. saw an injustice in the law of the day, and worked to change the law. Marijuana smokers do what they do because they want to get high and don't care that they are breaking the law.

If you want to, go ahead. And, I'm a little bit surprised that you would be making such an admission in open forum like this. Loose lips ...
