ProLifers Celebrate Recall Statement of Brian Johnston, Executive Director of the California ProLife Council
Tom McClintcok put it well, "this is a great day for California." Gray Davis was the most ardently pro-abortion elected official to ever hold public office in the United States. The abortion lobby said so, and the facts bear that out. Even the egregiously radical Bill Clinton felt the need to mute his pro-abortion stance by calling for abortion to be 'safe, legal, and rare.' But Davis embraced all abortions at all times, going so far as to threaten the legislature to not even introduce a bill that would give any consideration to the legal rights of the child in the womb.
A sympathetic media covered-up some of the more outrageous aspects of Davis' pro-abortion administration. One of the most glaring examples being that Davis' key lieutenant, the individual credited with running his administration, was Susan Kennedy, his Cabinet Secretary. Because of media approbation of the administration, few people realized that prior to her appointment, Susan Kennedy was one of the principal players in the abortion lobby. She was the Director of the California Abortion Rights Action League (CARAL). Imagine if the director of the California ProLife Council had been appointed to a similar position in a Lungren or Simon administration; the media would have been unrelenting in their criticism. Would the ideology of that administration have been discussed?
Arnold Schwarznegger has self-identified as 'pro-choice.' But in supporting parental notification and opposing partial-birth abortions, he has taken a significant break from the monolithic abortion lobby. This has made him public enemy #1 at NOW and NARAL and CARAL. There are quite a few pro-life legislators that have rallied to Arnie's side. They are in a position to advise and influence him. He has said he wants that advice. He has appointed pro-lifers to his transition team. Perhaps most significantly, unlike the unpleasant tenor of the Wilson years, Arnie has said he doesn't want to create the internal Republican wars over abortion. He does not want to make war on the party platform. These are significant distinctions. Arnie's victory is a victory for those who want to move us away from the pro-abortion mentality ardently pursued during the previous six years.
One more observation: Several years ago a local Catholic priest, Msgr. Edward Kavanaugh, a sterling man and a pro-life leader, rebuked Davis for his unstinting pro-abortion position. Governor Davis made a point of not only dismissing the comments but then went out of his way to publicly embarrass and humiliate Msgr. Kavanaugh on a number of occasions. Last night the world watched Gray Davis being summarily removed from office. At that same moment Msgr. Kavanaugh was being publicly honored for his tireless work on behalf of defenseless orphans. Arco Arena exploded in cheers while at center court the Maloof brothers presented him with a check for $100,000. Pro-Lifers have thanked him many times, but it is nice to see him get rewarded in a more substantial manner.
And it's nice to see his pro-abortion nemesis get his reward. It was a great day for California.
We can play that game all you want, but it won't change the fact that politics is war by other means, and shooting your vote off in a way that helps the enemy is not the way to fight.
If a candidate says that he is in favor of allowing families to terminate elderly members with the doctors assistance and another candidate says that he prefers that the doctor should be the only one to decide, we have a clearly defined lesser of two evils. The end result is that they are both evil. And while we know that the ends does not justify the means we can also say the the ends betrays the heart. Evil settles in one's heart and gets very comfortable. It can rationalize it presence very easily. Hence today we have most "good" Americans using contraception as if it were ordained from God Himself, when the truth is that we are destrying our future America and our descendants in order to remain conmfortable.
Evil, whether lesser or not, is still quite evil. If I kill you accidentally to steal ten dollars or I kill your whole family on purpose to steal $1,000,000 it is still two examples of evil. You may prefer one to the other but they both have the same mark of evil upon them. The desire to measure morality by results stems from John Dewey and his pragmatic ideology that was shoved down our throats in the 20th century public schools. To saY that government is the lesser of two evils is to say that government is evil, and that is simply not true. It is an offshoot of the idea that education is the answer to all problems. Education alway imposes someone's beliefs and depending on what they are it is either good or bad. Education is not the answer that is popularly parroted. But on the contrary, evil is evil and it cannot become good. The disconnect comes when we judge things by results alone. That leads good people to suppose that the outcome is more important than the intent.
Now in the case of Arnold the intent is not to save babies, even if that may accidentally be the outcome. The intent is to deceive.
We both have thought this through carefully, and have come to different conclusions in the details of how to best live out the values that we share, and I agree that it would be counterproductive to continue a discussion of our different belief systems.

Ending the holocaust of abortion will not come through politics.
The sad reality is that the duration of the abortion holocaust is prolonged by Christians who vote for pro-abortion candidates. This can only end with a new generation of Christians FULLY EDUCATED on the sanctity of Life before birth.
The polls and the statistics show it repeatedly. Also, younger people are more likely to be pro-life, that’s true. But when they vote, they don’t make pro-life their #1 PRIORITY. Why? One reason is because they simply were not taught why they should. Their consciences were not fully and properly formed.
Ending the culture of death will require changing how several million voters think and live. That cannot happen with election ads and commercials!!!
We are approaching 31 years of Roe v Wade and the single greatest concentration of energy the movement expends is winning through politics. At this rate we could at it for another 30 years—or longer. Yet in all the strategies for Pro-Life victory, Christian school students have been virtually overlooked. Honestly, they have been ignored. Thirty years later, the culture of death has become further entrenched. However, our Movement continues to be primarily focused on changing the hearts and minds of adults.
THE spirit in the schools of one generation,

The Pro-Life movement has worked tirelessly, attempting to change the hearts and minds of adults in the voting booth and in government. However, this is addressing the problem after the damage has been done. LONG after their minds have been made. Simultaneously, children's hearts and minds are not being properly cultivated in the truth of the sanctity of life while in Christian school. The result is that Christian schools continue graduating more voters and future government leaders whose record of defending life is no better than the national average. This sad reality is made evident with every election and with every legislative session. This self-defeating cycle must stop, as it is one of the main underlying reasons why we have not yet ended the scourge of abortion and the growing attacks against the sanctity of life.
Few would argue that it is much harder to change the minds of adults than it is to properly form the minds of children, especially in matters of morality. Only by finally addressing this problem and moving to correct it can we begin to change our culture and our laws. The very soul of our country is at stake. If the people of our nation remain uneducated, then change cannot occur.
First, WE - MUST begin with our own children and grandchildren. I’m not talking about having casual discussions about the unborn, from time to time. I mean teaching them comprehensively!

Was wondering that myself! Are you a woodworker? We're bigtime fans of Sam Maloof, the Norman Rockwell of woodworkers. Drove up to Ontario, CA just this past Saturday for his booksigning. 87 years young, and a more gracious, loving, kind soul you'll never meet. The line was very long, but he spent several moments with each patient fan, addind his gorgoeus calligraphic signature to each book, adding a "blessings and peace" as well. Seeing him was as big a highlight as the election.

These are conflicting remarks. On one hand you say, politics isn't the answer and in the next remark you say abortion continues because Christian's vote for pro-abortion candidates.
Politics isn't just about winning elections, holding power and governing. Politics is about human relations and human interactions. Politics is one of the oldest forms of human experience. Ending abortion will come about through a series of life style changes, that will gradually take place over many decades, or it will happen through an epihany of sometype. An awakening. But either way, abortion will finally end through a sense of political reality that is, the will of the people.
(But I believe that all of us would have voted for Schwartzenegger in the end, because his election will save more lives [by ousting Davis and defeating Bustamante] than an empty vote for a losing McClintock).

On one hand, it's staed it won't come thru politics, but then it is stated it will.
Which is it?
Oh God! This is terrible. He is working every possible angle in an attempt to stop Arnold from a doing a good job.
