Poll Shows California Voters Influenced by Bill Giving Illegal Aliens Licenses

(CNSNews.com) - Nearly one-third of those who voted in the recall election on Tuesday said they were influenced by California Gov. Gray Davis' decision to give illegal aliens driver's licenses, a new poll reveals.

According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform, the Luntz poll, taken on election night, shows 30 percent of voters said Davis' approval of the bill influenced their decision to support the recall.

In fact, 62 percent of voters surveyed said they would support a referendum to block the implementation of the law granting licenses to illegal aliens.

"From the outset, it was clear that the vast majority of Californians opposed granting licenses to illegal aliens," said Dan Stein, executive director of FAIR.

"The Davis camp believed that the issue would motivate the small minority of voters in the state that desperately want all distinctions between legal and illegal residents erased, while it would be quickly forgotten by the rest of the electorate. Clearly Davis misread the mood of the public," Stein added.

Davis also signed a bill allowing illegal aliens to apply for subsidized tuition rates.

According to the Luntz poll, 73 percent of voters in Tuesday's recall opposed the bill, while only 18 percent supported it.

No doubt this will come as a big surprise to the Dems. Or it ought to be; otherwise, they shot themselves in the foot on purpose instead of due to stupidity.

Numbers like that are very encouraging. If the fight against illegal aliens is not fought in California, it can not be won anywhere.

The signing of the driver's licenses for illegals bill was when I said that Bustamante was finished. It was kinda obvious.

An example of the "experience" that Davis touted so highly in himself, and the lack thereof in Schwarzenegger?

I hope our new Governor-elect is listening and paying attention. It is past time to get off that fence and support the SB60 Referendum now.

Non-stop massive migration of indigent people into any area cannot just go on. Too many services are needed just to get them to a basic living standard.

Bush and Rove hopefully will take a good look at this.

So far as I am concerned the Democrats read the message right. People are fed up with high taxes, loss of jobs and the illegal immigration situation.

The republicans didn't get these people out to vote. It was issues such as the illegal drivers license, car taxes, etc.

Rereading my rant, I realise the Dems. failed to mention illegal aliens and drivers licenses.

According to the Luntz poll, 73 percent of voters in Tuesday's recall opposed the bill, while only 18 percent supported it.(ie: licenses to invaders)

The question is, when are politicians of either party going to get the message? This means that the voters must assume that Arnold is going to do something about the invasion.

I hear, every day, ordinary people who think following politics is a waste of time, saying that there's going to have to be a revolution in this country. I just hope it's at the ballot box, and those who are elected from this discontent are independent enough to actually support the issues that are important to citizens.

This means that the voters must assume that Arnold is going to do something about the invasion.

I just heard watched his press conference. He plans to make them legal as soon as possible. Visas, visas, and more visas.

So I'm throwing this question out there: Does THAT action solve, or even alleviate, the problem?
