TOM MCCLINTOCK DAILY EDITION - 10/8/03 - GOING DARK!

Posted on 10/08/2003 7:10:21 AM PDT by Rabid Dog

As many of you know this has been a local, regional, national news and views thread. I want to thank all of you that have respected its intent. When I first started this thead, I was on the fence between Arnold and Tom. Within a week, it became clear that Tom was the man I could respect and support.

Within a month it became clear that the CA G.O.P. was not an organization I could respect and support and so I have switched parties and will be changing my screen name to Rabid Dog.

Tomorrow I am entering Freeper Detox and will be drying out for a week or so but am looking foward to discussing the changes in California under the leadership of our new governor - ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER!!

You're wrong. He is in no way done. Sorry you're disappointed about that, but you're just plain wrong. Tom is a very highly respected State Senator from Southern Ventura County...he has been elected innumerable times. I said ONE MILLION, I never said millions.

I think it's time to to stop the partisan politics and start working together to bring back our state. I thought it was great that the Shrivers, life long democrats, were supporting Arnold. Obviously, even they did not put party over principal.

They didn't put party over family. That's nice. It made me uneasy to not see some Republicans on stage with him. It's a little issue and not worth arguing about.

That's right, I forgot he's for abortion. I view Arnold as a "Republican" socialist and not a Conservative with traditional values.

He's a very highly isolated State Senator running up against term limits I think. Others will grab the Republican spot against Boxer who are more reliable, so he is near an end of sorts after his term.

ArneFufkin, whose flag is set to the great state of Minnesota, wrote:

You people are sanctimonious, amateurish losers. The adults are in charge now. Playtime for the CRA rubes is over, you bozos have done enough damage to that great state.

...

I've never seen such a display of rank stupidity mixed with unwarranted arrogance as you McClintock assclowns have shown here. Good riddance to bad garbage.

Aww jeez...

Arne is just suffering because he's shivering on Lake Wobegon under three feet of snow while we Californians aren't more than a couple of hours drive from bikini clad girls rollerskating and playing volleyball on the beach. Instead of having the guts to move someplace as nice as California, he takes it out on his keyboard.

Eat your heart out, Arne. Who's the loser???

;-)

PS, our parodists are better than your parodists, too!

"I Tom McClintock am the only one for this state or nobody else can win. If you won't back me, I won't leave to help the party and will attempt to spoil. If the party loses and Bustamante wins, that is probably good for me in 2006, so my interest are served anyway. I don't care about the Republican party, the people of California or it's future....but be sure to back me in the future campaigns, especially against Boxer, because I am that dam important and special"

We both agree that above statement personified the McClintock spirit in this race, that isn't to be rewarded with another run as the Republican against Boxer or anyone else.

I understand Rabid's perspective. If you can't tell the Republicans from the Democrats, why call yourself a Republican?

On the other hand, I'm not willing to give up on the cause of Republican conservatism. I will continue to support candidates like Tom McClintock and Tony Strickland (California Assemblyman for the Ventura County area). And I will remain a card-carrying member.

I also don't hold anything against fellow conservatives who voted for Schwarzenegger. I don't think they necessarily "sold out." Some were concerned, unnecessarily so, that Tom would split the Republican vote and thereby help Bustamante. Others felt Schwarzenegger was enough of a fiscal conservative to merit their support. Others wanted to back a "winner." Some wanted to punish the LA Times. Some wanted to punish Bob Mulholland. Some thought a vote for Schwarzenegger was the most practical way to help the National ticket next year.

The exit polls show one fact quite clearly. Nearly 19 out of 20 McClintock supporters also voted "Yes" on recall. For all purposes, that was a block vote and provided the margin of victory in the recall. This has not been lost on the national conservative media ... Limbaugh, Hannity, Novak, Larry Elder, Tony Snow, Brit Hume, etc. Even the more liberal types have praised McClintock for his debate performance and the tenor of his campaign.

Like Rabid, I have no use for the anti-McClintock rabble that populates FR. But they represent only a vocal, loathesome minority here, that are best ignored.

I'm fairly certain we can vote in the primaries - I believe there was a proposition passed to that effect.

Nope. The "open primary" is already history. I believe a court struck the idea down. It allowed too much mischief when one party had a sure winner- everyone would then vote in the rival party's primary, to try to sabotage candidate selection.

McClintock was first elected to State Senate in November 2000. If he serves until term-limited, he will be out of office in 2013.

"He's a very highly isolated State Senator running up against term limits, I think."

Evidently, you don't. Troll.

You guys have invented rollerskates that work on sand? Kewl - if you wouldn't mind, send me a pair for my next trip to Padre Island. (Size 10 and a half, D width, in a nice blue if you don't mind. I'm good for it. Really.)

Well, if you run across any "bitter, sore winners" on FR, you can direct them there. The rest of us will simply continue to try to provide Tom Tom the Backstabber with the political future he has earned by word and by deed.

You did good! You did right! In the Presidential primary I didn't vote for "W" I voted for Alan Keyes to follow my heart and core principles and my teens have learned from it ;)
