The more public support a governor has, the less "special interest" support he needs. For those of us on the starboard side of the party, its time to move amidships. However that does not mean it won't hurt to throw an Arnold bed-wetter overboard once in a while. Keeps the panic down and helps set a true course when the wind is from port.

I agree, though I'm not sure about 'moving amidships'. I'm just not sure how to go about it.

The guy's eyes make him look like a fruit fly, it seems like he's looking in three directions at once. I still have no respect for him.

I know someone who doesn't like Arnold because of his accent. It makes just about as much sense.

Did you see the crowd on stage? All liberal democrats. That's Arnold's family. He does not have his own parents anymore. What's more important is that they are up there supporting him, and maybe he IS the one to start bringing the parties together. I thought it symbolic.

And it was reported some days back that McClintock has a conditon known as amblyopia, or "lazy eye." I have the same condition.

What remains for us to accomplish is to learn how it is conservative principles that serve the interests of traditional Democratic constituencies.

Excellent post!!

Millions? Arnold with nearly 4 times the vote I thought only got 3.7 million himself.

That aside, the issue is his career crashed and burned and barely breaking double digits in a race he should have gotten out of two or more weeks ago isn't getting him and glorious future I can assure you.

Unless he sucks up in public regularly and with great zeal for Arnold, he's about done.

Well, everybody hated Davis and even the Dems knew Arnold was a good choice.

I hear Flagstaff, Arizona is a nice place to live, Reno is still high on my list as well. ;-)

I really liked Sierra Vista, AZ. 25,000 pop. as of 1994; retirees; next to a military base; good weather. It's not real lively. It all depends on what you're interested in.

"Shrouding a spoiler/traitor in semantics doesn't hide the rotting core of the man"

Wow! You are one vicious arrogant person. Shame on you. The man has substance where Arnold only had style. You chose style over substance and so did all the other conservatives who voted for Arnold.

The election is over, so, why not stop the name calling and be gracious in victory. There were over 980,000 conservatives who voted for Substance over Style, so, I am not alone.
Stop the vicious personal attacks on Mc and those of us who voted for him, sit down, relax and enjoy your victory and, please buy a copy of "how to "Win Friends & Influence People". I guarantee that there is Not one chapter that will tell you to insult people to win them over.

i'm sure its easy to lay blame o the CA gop for abandoning Tom, yet from the prespective here in the east, with all the libs on the left coast he wouldn't have stood a snowballs chance in hell even if he had ARNOLDS endorsement. sacramento would have been gridlock till the next election and then all the blame would shift onto Tom. if arnold can't do it then we can still blame it on the dems!

I agree ... to blame the GOP for not supporting McClintock is rather silly. One should have blamed the GOP and Bush for not supporting Simon more in the general election, now that would make more sense. But when you don't have a primary in a recall election, it would have been foolish for the GOP to back McClintock.

"I Tom McClintock am the only one for this state or nobody else can win. If you won't back me, I won't leave to help the party and will attempt to spoil. If the party loses and Bustamante wins, that is probably good for me in 2006, so my interest are served anyway. I don't care about the Republican party, the people of California or it's future....but be sure to back me in the future campaigns, especially against Boxer, because I am that dam important and special"

As much as I do like McClintock and what he stands for, that is exactly how I interpreted his staying to the end. He put the election at risk, and we could have Bustamente today ... trying to reannex us to Mexico tomorrow! The "Tombots" stood for non-reality. Let's take our reality in small bites... slow and steady wins the race.

The great political analyist, Tom Arnold, friend of Arnold, has been all over the TV news shows. He said McClintock is a typical conservative. "They never win." Funny. I thought he is a California state senator. Tom Arnold also said " Arnold (S) is a democrat. He is just like a democrat."

"I thought is symbolic." Of what? That the Republicans will accept anybody into the party as long as they can win. I'm hoping for the best but not expecting too much from the Republican/Democrat.
