TOM MCCLINTOCK DAILY EDITION - 10/8/03 - GOING DARK!

Posted on 10/08/2003 7:10:21 AM PDT by Rabid Dog

As many of you know this has been a local, regional, national news and views thread. I want to thank all of you that have respected its intent. When I first started this thead, I was on the fence between Arnold and Tom. Within a week, it became clear that Tom was the man I could respect and support.

Within a month it became clear that the CA G.O.P. was not an organization I could respect and support and so I have switched parties and will be changing my screen name to Rabid Dog.

Tomorrow I am entering Freeper Detox and will be drying out for a week or so but am looking foward to discussing the changes in California under the leadership of our new governor - ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER!!

Final Ping! We fought the good fight - now it is time to make things happen for Arnold (as long as he doesn't swing to the left).

Peter Schrag: Morning after -- It's time for California to sober up
By Peter Schrag

The great diversion is over. Now real decisions have to be made -- among them some of the most crucial that have faced any state.

All of you fought your best for a cause you believed in.

Although I didn't agree, I admire that you didn't attack Schwarzenegger as you could have.

I hope that all of you and Arnold are able to work together to make California, the state of Reagan, great once again.

You have my warmest esteem and respect,

Your Fellow Freeper in PA,

McClintock claims victory in his defeat

SACRAMENTO -- Saying his campaign "framed the issues upon which this contest was decided," state Sen. Tom McClintock on Tuesday claimed victory even as he was conceding defeat to Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger.

We just need to continue to fight for the right
cause. As always regardless of who gets elected.

Often we let our guard down when a Republican
wins rather than realizing regards who wins
the fight is always on.

I think Arnold is aware that there are many on the right that didn't get his full attention and hopefully some/many of his actions will keep us in mind.

In that article you can see they are pushing
the idea that California problem is that taxes are
too low.

You are correct about the Republicans. To bad for Tom but he has come out looking like the only bright one in the campaign, which he is. Are you joining the dog party? woof woof

i'm sure its easy to lay blame o the CA gop for abandoning Tom, yet from the prespective here in the east, with all the libs on the left coast he wouldn't have stood a snowballs chance in hell even if he had ARNOLDS endorsement. sacramento would have been gridlock till the next election and then all the blame would shift onto Tom. if arnold can't do it then we can still blame it on the dems!

I don't live in CA so it's not my business, but I would have loved to see McClintock in office. He sounds like the one to fix CA's economic problems and he certainly shares my values.

However I am ready to support the Governator now that he is in by such a large mandate. Arnold is a good man, and he will try his best to do a good job. He doesn't need the money or the fame, so he's not doing this for his own gain. Also we need to remember that this is CA, a different planet from the rest of the nation. If Arnold had straight conservative social policies as his platform, he'd be an outcast in LALA land, certainly in SF.

So we've got this Governator in office, with an R next to his name. I hope he is good for CA and for the Pubs in general. I am already enjoying the lamentations of the dems and nuts as their world teeters ever closer to the brink :)

I think Tom has garnered a lot of positive spin. If he runs against Barbara Boxer, I think he will have a good shot.

Yes, you are right Rabid Republican. This has been a very emotional time for all of us who feel compromising is not a option. I pray for our state, and Arnold right now. My personal feelings are that we didn't really better ourselves, because now we have a REpublican(in name only) who will carry out the Democrat agenda. We are switching to Independent now ourselves.

But in that case, didn't the California GOP do the right thing?

I think you would admit that Arnold ran an absolutely world-class campaign, from inspiring speeches to that slick web tool that tells you how to vote for Arnold.

I'd take a few days cooling off before you change your screen name :-). Let's give Arnold a few months to prove himself, for better or for worse, before joining the Dog Party, whatever that is.

If Sabertooth can unite behind Arnold, perhaps you can, too :-).
