Katie in Attack Mode - Questions Arnold's Leadership, Envisions "Havoc" and Grope Lawsuits
The Today Show

Posted on 10/08/2003 4:31:31 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

The morning after a historic election, it's traditional for the media to lead their coverage with an analysis of what led to the winning candidate's victory, and typically offer some softbal, warm and fuzzy interviews with the winning team.

But as far as The Today Show's Katie Couric is concerned, there's no time for a honeymoon, as she wasted no time in attack Arnold and painting a grim picture for his political future.

Couric's guest was CA Congressman and Arnold transition chairman David Dreier.

Again, the typical morning-after question would have been along the lines of "how does it feel?" or "how did Arnold do it?", or if you're looking to be a bit more substantive "what is Arnold's #1 priority?"

Instead, the first words out of Courics' mouth "polls show that 2/3 of the people feel Arnold didn't adequately explain his plans. What does that say about his leadership or his ability to communicate with the people?"

Next: "Arnold must present a budget by January 10th. How can he do it without cutting programs or raising taxes?"

And of course Katie hates the idea of letting taxpayers keep more of their money: "Wouldn't eliminating the recent tripling of the car tax wreak havoc?"

Next question: "When does he propose to address the groping allegations? Many of the women have retained high-powered lawyers. How concerned about lawsuits, how big a distratcion will that be?

When she was first on the Today show, she tried to be known as Kathryn Couric... it didn't last long. Her Momma probably said, "Honey! Your name is Katie!"

Estrich said as much (about jumping ship) on Fox and Friends this morning to Steve Doocy. She puts the election tsunami down to: deep disgust with Gray Davis, the press and the Democrats becoming "the sex police", and the Dems failure to field a credible candidate (thanks to Terry McAuliffe's edict that no one should run). You know what? She's right. Let's all learn from this when WE field candidates in elections.

That wasn't a colonoscopy. That was brain surgery.

"I think it's fascinating that most of the voters cast their ballots for someone with absolutely no political experience."

That's because the people don't want a politician. They want a leader.

My two cents: The Dems made a mistake: They should have run Feinstein and appointed a Dem for her Senate seat. It could have been a win for them but they took the loss. Why?

Just arrogance??

It's like the Clintons' old friend, the late Jim McDougal said: the Clintons are like a tornado that roll through the lives of people they touch.

Don't you just love the coattails the clintoons have? Remember, El slicko was in CA "helping" Davis in the recall.

Did he ever help him - right out the door!!!!

"Isn't that what politics is, at its core?"

Yep.

Show biz for the homely.

Well Katie, it can't be too shocking for you, people listen to your bias and you have absolutely NO political experience. Talk about "cult of celebrity" Katie is a poster child for this concept. She is given a 60 MILLION DOLLAR contract because she had a colonoscopy on TV. Wonder what they would give her for a FRONTAL LOBOTOMY!

Oh, btw, I heard Maria Shriver may not have a job at NBC anymore.

If they start attacking Maria Shriver, what does that do with the Kennedys and that portion of the democrat party?

You can add Davis to the ever growing list of candidates Clinton campaigned for and subsequently lost.

Don'tcha just wonder how many women groped Arnold? and he never complained. Women are such phonies sometimes.

If they keep going with this as an issue, it'll hurt Clinton. They have to go in another direction.

Katie is soooooo upset. :-)
