-I THINK FIRST WE (THOSE CONSERVATIVES WHO CALLED HIM A SPOILER AND SAID HIS POLITICAL CARRER IN CA WAS OVER)NEED TO APOLOGIZE TO MR. MCCLINTOCK FOR EVERYTHING HE HAS GONE THROUGH.
-NEXT, WE NEED TO IMMEDIATLY RALLY BEHIND AND SUPPORT MR. MCCLINTOCK IN HIS RACE AGAINST SENATOR BOXER IN NEXT YEARS ELECTION!! NO OTHER REPUBLICANS SHOULD CHALLENGE FOR THIS NOMINATION!
-THIRD, WORK ON GETTING THE CAR TAX, ILLEGAL LICENCE, AND MEDICARE SITUATION FIXED W/IN THE NEXT TWO MONTHS SO WE CAN START OUR GROWTH AND BEGIN TO WORK ON WINNING GEORGE W. BUSH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
THIS COULD BE THE TURNING OF THE TIDE FOR THE CA REPUBLICAN PARTY IF WE DO THINGS RIGHT AND STOP THE IN-FIGHTING WHICH HAS COST US IN THE PAST. MCCLINTOCK CAME OUT BETTER IN THIS ELECTION THAN ANY OTHER CANDIDATE (INCLUDING ARNOLD!)AND WE NEED TO MOVE ON THIS QUICKLY

That's a big 10-4.
He's got a ton of discipline (obviously) and I believe it will really serve him well. I have high hopes he will be a model for change to the rest of the politicians.
I hope I hope!
Like someone said, if the DemocRats want to fight him from getting things done, they will have to do it in full view of the public! it will be out in the open, and that will hurt them further.

Text of Arnold Schwarzenegger's remarks Tuesday night declaring victory in recall election
Associated Press | October 8, 2003 | Arnold Schwarzenegger
Posted on 10/08/2003 1:11 AM PDT by HAL9000
JAY LENO: Tonight is a testament on how important one appearance on 'The Tonight Show' can be. You know the critics say 'Well, Arnold can't be an administrator, he's an actor. Oh, Arnold can't be an environmentalist, he's an actor. Oh Arnold can't be governor, he's an actor.' Well of course Arnold was thrilled. For the first time in his career, the critics are calling him an actor, ladies and gentlemen. This is a historic night. Apparently we have all been wrong. It is pronounced Cal-ee-fornia. Ladies and gentleman, the governor of the great state of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER: Thank you, what a great celebration. Thank you all for being here today. Thank you. Thank you. You know there are so many people that I want to thank. And I want to start first with my wife, Maria. I want to thank her for the love and the strength she has given me. I want to thank her for being the greatest wife and the most spectacular partner. I know how many votes I got today because of you....

It's Arnold in landslide: Californians flood polls to oust Davis
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | Wednesday, October 8, 2003
Posted on 10/08/2003 1:13 AM PDT by JohnHuang2
Californians ousted Democratic Gov. Gray Davis just 11 months into his second term and gave Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger a landslide victory, ending the unprecedented recall election that has dominated national headlines for two months.
Partial returns show the recall favored by 3,274,115 votes, or 54 percent, and opposed by 2,763,079 votes, or 46 percent.
Davis conceded the race to Schwarzenegger just before 10 p.m. Pacific time and pledged to work toward a smooth transition....

Arnold Terminates the Democrats

For the first time in California history, voters recalled a sitting governor, ousting Gov. Gray Davis and selecting actor-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger to be their next chief executive.
"Today, California has given me the greatest gift of all. You have given me your trust by voting for me," Schwarzenegger said on a stage packed with supporters and his wife, television journalist Maria Shriver, standing at his side....

The California recall election is a political earthquake. It is already shaping the political future not only in California but nationwide. The big losers in this election were California liberals, feminists, the politics of personal destruction, the myth that the press is not in bed with the Democrats and the image of Republicans as mean-spirited morality police. The Republican Party has suddenly become the big tent it has aspired to be but never quite achieved until now. According to exit polls 55 percent of independents and 18 percent of Democrats voted for Schwarzenegger despite the fact that the Democratic Party threw all its big guns into the state including all its presidential candidates, Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Jesse Jackson. Thirty-nine percent of union households voted for the Republican and thirty percent of Hispanics despite the fact the Democrat Bustamante would have been the first Hispanic governor in history if he had won. Moreover, the turnout of Republicans themselves was also obviously large with the overwhelming majority of conservatives and an even larger majority of moderate Republicans coming out to vote for him.
In short, the new governor inspires passion in the Republican base and yet hope among those who are often put off by that base. In California, Arnold has created a new Republican coalition that has raised the Republican Party from the dead and produced an electoral landslide in the process. In a state which Republicans lost by a million votes in the last presidential election (without the Democrats having to spend a penny in the state) the combined Republican vote may have exceeded 60 percent -- an electoral landslide. This is what is meant by a political earthquake....

Votes for Schwarzenegger ahead of "no on recall" votes to keep Davis.
10-08-03 | me
Posted on 10/08/2003 2:29 AM PDT by hotpotato
As of 2:07 a.m. with 91.3% of precints reporting, votes for Arnold Schwartzenegger as the new governor of California are 3,239,197 while votes against the recall (to keep Gray Davis) are 3,213,110. Schwarzenegger has 26,087 more in his favor than votes to keep Gray Davis as governor. Why is that important? The democrats will use this as a measure to determine whether Schwartzenegger is a "legitimate" governor or whether they will pound the republicans all through his term about a power grab.
Though many understand this is a political ploy, unfortunately, the hype is an effective tool to undermine an administration as we have seen with regard to President Bush's election. Hopefully, these numbers will hold (not that legally, it makes any difference... it will just be a bit less noisy and disruptive if Schwarzenegger's numbers remain ahead)....

Who's sorry now? The art of media apology - Arnold and Rush
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | October 8, 2003 | MARK LANE

Nobody has staying power in American political life unless he can deliver a good, rousing public apology rightly timed. Yet it's difficult to say you're sorry. Particularly if you want to be contrite without getting into what you're contrite about.
Say what you want about the Arnold Schwarzenegger's lack of political experience, he has the apologetic instincts of an experienced pro.
He had for weeks been denying reports that he sexually harassed women, and it was time to put the stories to rest....

California election assessment and Freeper critique. (Vanity)

Agree or Disagree, like or dislike, the people of California, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents have spoken. The people have said enough is enough. Arnold has done what few have been able to in politics; send a message that rings true across all political parties. It wasnt the Republicans that got him into office. It was mainly the Independents of the State that got him there.
