McClintock Cautiously Optimistic About Chances (McC Mapping Out First Day in Office)

McClintock Cautiously Optimistic About Chances

After casting his vote this morning in a Thousand Oaks polling place, Republican state Senator Tom McClintock expressed confidence that an upset win would put him in the governor's office.

In recent days, McClintock has repeatedly said his his third place standing in the polls doesn't respresent the true feelings of voters. He believes the people of California will vote their consciences, resulting in a victory for him.

McClintock had a message for those who like his message, but say he can't win and intend to vote for Schwarzenegger instead of him. "Don't vote for someone else's calculations, vote your own convictions," he said.

While disturbed by recent allegations about fellow Republican Schwarzenegger, McClintock also expressed skepticism about the charges because of the timing. Whatever his reservations, however, he said that if the accusations are proven, Schwarzenegger doesn't deserve to be governor.

McClintock has mapped out his first day in office if elected. First, he plans to sign an executive order to repeal the car tax, then take action to rescind expensive energy contracts, and finally call a special session to examine workman's compensation issues.

It's sad that some have changed their address to the gutter.

Unfortunately, FReepers on both sides of the argument have succumbed to this.

And it's a shame you lowered youself to the gutter, by calling McClintock supporters "nutjobs". Sad and pathetic.

As I said, if being two-faced is your "brand" of conservatism, I can understand why you're so displeased here.

I learned at about the age of 12 that I cannot be the least bit ruffled by someone who has earned zero respect.

It is kind of fun to watch them rave on and show lots of people just how maniacal they are though.

Someone better be careful. If they find out he's fraternizing with the enemy, he may be in trouble.

Isn't he like a sergeant in the LP army or something?

I'm displeased with you.

As I have told you on many occasions, I'd be worried if you and your ilk liked me.

OMG......"small minority??" Check the polls. You seem to be the odd man out.

You're completely missing my point. The vast majority of FReepers who decided to vote for Arnold did so because they felt he had the best chance of winning, bringing a Republican Governor to the State House and defeating Bustamante. As far as I'm concerned, that is a perfectly honorable reason to vote for Arnold, and I respect the decisions of those who voted for him on those grounds.

The folks I am disappointed in are those who voted for Arnold because they actualy agree with him on the issues moreso than they don with McClintock.

Am I making sense?

Please see post #134.
We are the people who watched the chickens run away, lol.
We can sleep restfully. They will always have that shame nagging at them.

Ain't it funny how they're not celebrating?

Regards, and sleep tight!

I understand exactly what you're saying; I just don't think you have the right to question why people on this forum cast their votes.
