McClintock Cautiously Optimistic About Chances
After casting his vote this morning in a Thousand Oaks polling place, Republican state Senator Tom McClintock expressed confidence that an upset win would put him in the governor's office.
In recent days, McClintock has repeatedly said his his third place standing in the polls doesn't respresent the true feelings of voters. He believes the people of California will vote their consciences, resulting in a victory for him.
McClintock had a message for those who like his message, but say he can't win and intend to vote for Schwarzenegger instead of him. "Don't vote for someone else's calculations, vote your own convictions," he said.
While disturbed by recent allegations about fellow Republican Schwarzenegger, McClintock also expressed skepticism about the charges because of the timing. Whatever his reservations, however, he said that if the accusations are proven, Schwarzenegger doesn't deserve to be governor.
McClintock has mapped out his first day in office if elected. First, he plans to sign an executive order to repeal the car tax, then take action to rescind expensive energy contracts, and finally call a special session to examine workman's compensation issues.

Be gentle and generous in victory. Why should they? I've been reading these threads for about two weeks.
People who supported Arnold have taken a complete beating from these condescending "conservatives."

I'm about sick of the word "principles." I know why.

People have a right to vote for who they want to. They don't have to explain to you why they did it. And it doesn't make them wrong just because they don't agree with you.I agree with you 100%. There were, however, several FReepers who have decided to disclose tht they agree with Arnold more on the issues. It is that small minority of FReepers who disturb me, not the great majority of them who voted for Arnold for pragmatic reasons.

I'm sure you do; you're one of the little men around here who try to puff yourself up by telling people they don't have principles if they don't agree with you.
Maybe people don't know about your principles; you know, the principle you use to hang around here and then go over to LP to mock your "fellow" Freepers.
Frankly, I'm glad I don't have YOUR principles. I'm a lot of things, but I am not twofaced.

I hear someone calling your name at the other website. Better run over before they think you are a traitor.

If you're disturbed it's because for some reason you believe you have the right to tell people what their opinions should be.

I still can't believe that my liberal Democratic wife voted for McClintock. She voted for the recall because of Davis' support for gambling, and reliance on gambling money. She voted for McClintock because I convinced her that she was the only candidate who would even try to reduce the defict.

Yeah. When you don't have any principles, it can make you feel real sick. Hope you fell better soon.

Pay no attention to temperamental, out-of-control anger. There are some mental cases on FR and tonight is a rough night for them. Feel their pain.

But in the end who won this thing.... Not them and that's the peoples decision..... It's always that way in any campaign.... Look at where some of them are today from past campaigns... They are gone, some to other parties, some of the candidates no longer are heard except as pundits, etc.
Some can lose and do it gracefully. I'd give McClintock some time yet to see what his actions will be.

Q for all of you folks bashing McClintock:
Why?
It appears your guy's winning, and winning big.I think I know why.
These surrender monkeys for Arnold are now feeling the way a kid on a schoolyard feels after he has been challenged to a fist fight by another kid and he responds by chickening out and running like a bunny. The shame settles in later when he is safely away, and the kid then becomes angry not only at the kid he ran away from but at all the other kids on the playground who watched him run away.
Half of these surrender monkeys, seeing the likely landslide, are now saying to themselves, "Damn! I could have stuck with my principles and not voted for a pro-gun-control, pro-abortion, pro-welfare-for-illegals, pro-enviro-nazi, pro-homosexual adoption liberal!"
And now they are ashamed of themselves.
That's your answer.
Regards,
LH

If you're disturbed it's because for some reason you believe you have the right to tell people what their opinions should be. Of course not. I'm an open-minded fellow. Maybe "disturbed" is a harsh word. "Disappionted" might be more appropriate. Am I being unreasonable in saying that on a "conservative" web site, you'd think people would agree with Tom more on the issues, regardles of how they choose to vote? I'm sorry if you are in the small minority of folks who leans towards Arnold on the issues, but I honestly cannot think of one issue in which an argument can even be made.

Ignore it.
Sometimes some people can't recognize class, but almost everyone recognizes a total lack of it.
It's sad that some have changed their address to the gutter.
To: Howlin
You're no conservative. I thought you were a few years ago, but I was mistaken.
To: Reagan Man
I'd be offended if I hadn't looked at all your other posts.
I can see you're swoping from thread to thread, piously spreading "your type" of conservatism.
