Your candidate vote counts even if you forgot to punch Q1. That's settled and quite clear to me.

Muscle Bound Dogs For Arnold
To: Lady Heron
The good news is Arnold will have to run right if he hopes to be reelected 3 years from now. If he doesn't he'll be a one term wonder.

If the recall yes vote is 50%+1 then does the law require the replacement governor to get 50%+1 of the candidate votes or just a majority? Just that he/she have more votes that their opponants. with ~130 candidates the winner could be the new gubbner with 2% of the votes cast.

"What time do the polls close in CA?"
Well, I think in Democrat districts they are open 24 hours...in Republican districts they are open from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.

I don't mean to scare you, but here's some facts which will change your theory for the worse:
-No one needs to use a "common name" to attempt to vote in someone's place. They can pick a REAL name. The voter roll in each precinct is available to peruse. You may often see a binder of papers outside each polling place -- these are used by campaign workers to identify who has NOT voted so they may be contacted (i.e. precinct walking, etc.) and encouraged to vote.
-Poll workers do not ask for photo identification.

The Democrats would love a situation where Davis lost but he got equal to or more than his replacement on the ballot. At least that's the scenario they'd like.

You are saying teh person is a voter on Q1 only if either YES or NO is punched, otherwise, the person is not a voter for Q1. The contest is betwen YES chads and NO chads, not between YES chads and total ballots. Correct. Let's say there are five voters, with two not voting on Recall, two voting for, and one voting against. The Recall would pass, 2-1, even though there were three voters who didn't vote yes.

Nonsense, Golden Retrievers are smarter than the average independent, much less DemonRat. And much less likely to poop on your carpet...

Los Angeles? Berkeley? Those are not "happy" results, but certainly believable for some parts of the state (from what I've been led to believe).

No. The replacement candidate need only get the most votes of those cast for a candidates, regardless of the margin for the recall question. Early on in the race, it was assumed that someone could win with as little as 15-20% of the vote.
It looks like Arnold may end up in the mid-40's.
