ARNOLD TALKS TOUGH TO THE GOP
BYLINE: BY GEORGE RUSH AND JOANNA MOLLOY WITH MARCUS BARAM and MARC S MALKIN
Arnold Schwarzenegger is breaking ranks with his fellow Republicans.
The action star is still embarrassed by how the GOP handled President Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky, which he says was nothing more than a "human failure."
"I was ashamed to call myself a Republican during that period," he says in November's George magazine. "Instead of devoting all this energy and all these hearings to how we're going to solve the problems of the inner cities . . . No, it's like, 'This man has to be removed from office because he's a national threat.' Yeah, that's a good one."
Schwarzenegger is also fed up with Pat Buchanan and other Republicans who he says are full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
"Say what you really stand for, rather than going from one convention to the next talking about what we're against," he says in George, which has a cover showing Arnold straddling a motorcycle while wearing a George Washington powdered wig complemented by "Terminator" black leather.
"Guys like Buchanan going up there and speaking about, 'We are anti-gay and we're anti-lesbian and anti-immigration.' We are anti-taxation and anti-federal government."
But the Terminator isn't planning on jumping to another political party just yet. And he does manage a little laugh at the President's expense.
"I have never heard anyone talk more about building a bridge to the 21st century," Schwarzenegger gripes. "And I can't find that bridge."

Just remember. If you are voting for Schwarzenegger you are voting for a pro-Clinton liberal who did not have the perception to understand Bill Clinton did represent a national threat.
In contrast George Bush embraced James Rogan.

The choice is between Gray Davis and Arnold.
Tom What's-His-Name ain't even in the equation, and all the wishing in the world won't change it.

Say what you really stand for, rather than going from one convention to the next talking about what we're against,"Holy Cow, the irony!
No shame, absolutely no shame in his pathological desire for power. It should come as little surprise he appreciated all the salutes at the Nuremberg stadium, (R)nold's need for submission, from a psychological standpoint, is frighteningly similar to William J. Clinton. Thank God we still have a Constitution prohibiting this double talking Celebrity from riding this into the Oval Office.

Well, if I lived in California and were voting for Tm, Arnolds opinions of Buchanan would make me vote for him
Say what you really stand for, rather than going from one convention to the next talking about what we're against
Right on. It's easy to talk about what you're against. Does Buchanan, or Keyes, or any of those types have what they are for? Oh, wait....pro-life and "returning to the constitution". A blanket statement that's empty and hollow. Looks like Arnold is tough-love and even the "hard and determined true conservatives" can't handle it.
McC is a pansy and would have failed, period. Get over it.

This is news?
It's from 1999.
This election is getting CA's fiscal house in order.
THAT is relevant.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/995436/posts Schwarzenegger: Cut spending, taxes
As governor, I will work to get the state's fiscal house in order. Immediately upon taking office, I will order an independent, top-to-bottom audit of the state budget -- due back to me in 60 days. That way, we can get a clear picture -- uncluttered by politics and special interest influence --
of how we can bring spending under control without neglecting our most important obligations.
This audit will accomplish two important things. First, it will give us independent information to determine our true operating deficit. And second, it will let us identify specific line items that can be reduced.
The problem is overspending, and the deficit must be closed by getting spending under control. Our first order of business is to get California's operating deficit under control. I will ensure that California's government lives within its means -- something working families manage to do every day -- and rein in spending to close the operating deficit.
I am also firmly opposed to raising taxes.
Californians are already overtaxed, they suffer under one of the highest tax burdens in the nation, and just about everything a Californian does today is subject to one tax or another. You turn on the light in the morning -- you get taxed. You drink your coffee -- you get taxed. You get in your car - - you get taxed. Tax, tax, tax -- from morning to night.
Hitting taxpayers up for more money isn't the answer to our state's budget and economic problems. They shouldn't be punished because the politicians in Sacramento have failed to keep the books balanced.
The problem is overspending, and the operating deficit must be closed by getting spending under control. That's why I support placing a cap on state spending.

Freepers -- in California, who have made their bed with the RINOs and Anti-conservatives and pro-Clintonites, go sleep in it.

Seems some members of FR are trying to dig dirt on Arnold. I wonder if they work for the LA Times.
To: jimt
Yep. Some people on FR have got their own slime machine going, and here I thought good, value-hugging conservatives didn't do such things.
I guess the ends justify the means.

I think I'll get a lot of long-delayed housework done today.
FR will be overloaded with dredged-up old news and last-minute desperation articles to advance candidates of choice.
With the election less than 24 hours away, does anyone think savvy California freepers haven't made up their minds yet? Enough already.
Off to the ironing board for now. B'bye.

"Say what you really stand for, rather than going from one convention to the next talking about what we're against," ..........."Guys like Buchanan going up there and speaking about, 'We are anti-gay and we're anti-lesbian and anti-immigration.' We are anti-taxation and anti-federal government." Yeah, it's much better to be like Arnold and say exactly what one is for .......like gun control, for instance.
