[history]
Count us among those who hope Rush Limbaugh licks his demons. We're not talking about the patently fake outrage over his ESPN remarks about Donovan McNabb, even if we happen to think Mr. Limbaugh was off-base on that one. We're talking about the allegations about drug abuse. All the facts are not yet in, but it strikes us that what people are really waiting to see is whether he will take the consequences of his actions like a man.

It's yet to be really determined what "his actions" really were.

I agree. We wait, hope, and in my case pray.

even if we happen to think Mr. Limbaugh was off-base on that one.Oh, pack it in! Rush didn't state anything that isn't at the heart of affirmative action. He also didn't state anything that hasn't been said about black conservatives, by the so-called "tolerance" crowd.

They sure are quick to believe a story from the housekeeper who sold her story to a sleazy tabloid. It's possible that the whole thing was fabricated because she was the one arrested for possession not Rush. What he takes or doesn't take for pain relief is his business. He sure doesn't owe me an explanation.

Rush hasn't let anyone down. Especially not his loyal listeners. This article tries to have it both ways and in the end, resolves nothing. If it takes 3 days, 3 weeks or 3 months, before Rush`s legal team thinks it okay for him to speak out, thats fine with me. The man has done a lot for conservative politics in America and deserves the benefit of the doubt for now.

I think Rush is in serious legal trouble. If he broke a number of laws is he supposed to walk?
To: Fred Mertz
Do you believe the maid's story that Rush was taking 90 pills a day? He'd be a corpse.

I believe the authorities have enough goods on Rush to punish/prosecute him.
Let me add that I'm a big Rush fan and I'll most likely forgive him when he comes clean. But, I want to see how the judicial system in Florida works. Does it treat everyone the same?
To: Fred Mertz
well that remains to be seen. sure, if he broke the law, he'll pay, and he should... and the if he did, i'm going to love to see the left to try to call for his head when so many on their side walk away without a scratch ... we'll see where their 'compassion' is, see if it applies to everyone or just their own

it strikes us that what people are really waiting to see is whether he will take the consequences of his actions like a man. I agree this is true. But I think most of Rush's loyal listeners will give him a little slack, knowing he has legal issues to resolve before he can really talk.
Was I the only one to notice that his speech was very slurred on Friday? He sounded like he was either sedated or up all night. It didn't exactly instill confidence.
True conservatives recognize that we are all weak in different ways. The test is whether you are willing to face the demons head on and take personal responsibility. I am certain Rush will do what's right.

I'll bet the EIB network ratings will remain sky high as long as Rush doesn't come clean with his audience. But I think that tactic will only last about five days before it backfires. That's just my opinion.
To: Fred Mertz
Why do you believe that?
There are serious allegations. Not as serious as, say, the Clinton rape/ perjury/ cocaine use / etc /etc /etc allegations, yet still serious. But there are also very obvious questions and inconsistencies about the allegations.
The only thing I am fairly confident of right now is that the Enquirer does not have the story exactly right. (Again--it's too soon to say whether the Enquirer is mostly right or way off base).
I will be surprised if Rush does not say more about this during his show Monday. Then we will know a lot more.

1. His comments on ESPN were NOT racist. They were factual.
2. Here's what I did NOT hear him say last Friday:
"I do not use illegal drugs."
"I did not buy illegal drugs."
"It's a story in the National Enquirer! The same rag that wants you to believe in 'BatBoy'!"

Most of Rush's demons as far as I have been able to determine, are our demons too. Those ruthless demons of the left, who will go to any extreme, destroy whoever they must, discredit any voice of truth and kill any messenger to shield their own extremely evil agenda from exposure to the light of truth.

I think Rush is in serious legal trouble.WHAT YOU THINK DOESN'T COUNT FOR MUCH,
If he broke a number of laws is he supposed to walk?
Don't know of any laws he's broke, do you? Oh, I know he's been smoking again.
To: org.whodat
If his maid got $200,000.00 payouts, I believe that would qualify as bribery for starters. There's probably a more technical legal term for it.
To: Fred Mertz
Yeah--try extortion or blackmail.
