McClintock Calls on Schwarzenegger to Resign If Charges Prove True

State Senator Tom McClintock called on Arnold Schwarzenegger to withdraw from the race for governor if allegations of improper sexual advances prove to be true.

Asked by reporters what he would tell Schwarzenegger, McClintock said, "If those allegations are true, you should drop out of the race."

McClintock was careful not to condemn Schwarzenegger out of hand, but made his feelings on the issue clear. "If the allegations are true, and again coming as late as they are, I believe they need to be treated with great skepticism, that conduct is reprehensible," he said.

He went on to tell reporters that if the charges are proven, Schwarzenegger does not deserve to occupy the governor's office. "As the father of a 13-year-old daughter, I would have a great deal of trouble accepting that that kind of conduct has been elevated to the highest office in the state," he said.

The potential scandal hovering over Schwarzenegger could provide an unexpected boost for McClintock's campaign. The conservative state senator is current lagging well behind both Schwarzenegger and Democrat Cruz Bustamante in the polls.

What bothered me about Clinton was his selling of our Nuclear Secrets to China as well as selling the Lincoln Bedroom for campaign contributions. I could care less about his sex life!

I'm in NJ--I have no dog in this fight. I have, however, lived under RINO governors for eight years and have watched the NJ Republican party morph into an extension of the Democratic Party under their influence.

Greeting fellow Jerseyan. The debacle of '01 is what has me fed up with the "team players" in the GOP. Bret will win in '05, mark my words.

Hello there! Yes, I am a big supporter of Bret's and have personally met him. I think so much of him I contributed last year to pay off his '01 campaign debt.

Remember when the Hudson County Repub. party actually rejected Bret, their party's standard bearer in the '01 election, and supported the Democrat McGreevy? Unbelievable!

NJ is suffering now under the idiot from Woodbridge. I am looking forward to Bret running again in '05.

We now return you to the California gubernatorial thread.

Not sure why you pinged me.
I find Dobson to be a religious right bigot... personally.
and I do think he subscribes to at least some of the ideas that perhaps RGS linked him to.

I also think Dobson and the evangelical community including the likes of TBN Televangelists, like kennedy, hinn, avanzini, lindsay and the like have an agenda in backing semi stealth right wing bible thumpers like Tom. I think all right wingers are somewhat connected to such ideas.

It is the cheif reason that I do NOT support him.
Having said that, direct association with tom on these matters remains to be seen.

and since I am convinced that Tom will lose in the next 24-36 hours, and will likely become a pariah to the republican party, a singular cautionary tale about the value of the "all or nothing" philosophy... and since we all have to try and move on Tomorrow with rebuilding the state... I see no further value in debating such items. You like the guy. I find him repulsive in his approach.

You have been a faithful supporter of Tom throughout this process... and Tom could learn a few lessons from YOU about loyalty. Please take that as the best compliment I can send your way because I mean it.

You and I will agree on plenty in the coming weeks and months.
And I look forward to that...

be well Sabertooth.

Now about those pictures of Michelle Malkin you used to post....(or was that someone else)

You're completely an utterly wrong. This was the best chance for a conservative to be elected in a generation. Had the state GOP gotten behind McClintock, instead of running their establishment candidate, he would have won easily.

Everyone has their opinions, but I think you are CALIFORNIA DREAMING, my friend. If the Repubcan party had backed McClintock, the recall would be voted down. I'm open to being wrong, though.

Now let's see... California, a state that is as Liberal as they come, turns around and "gets it" and votes for a true Conservative who defends the right to life, smaller government, TRTKABA's, and outlaws homosexuality. Keep dreaming, dude!

Liberal as it gets? WRONG.

http://www.marriagewatch.org/media/prop22.htm

On March 7, 2000, the people of California voted on Proposition 22, a proposal to enact a state "Defense of Marriage Act" as an initiative statute. The text of Prop 22 reads:

"Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California."

Proposition 22 was ratified by an overwhelming majority of California voters, prevailing by a 23-point margin. Statewide, 4,618,673 votes were cast in favor of the proposition, comprising 61.4% of the total vote. Opponents garnered 2,909,370 votes, for 38.6% of the vote.

That's what I'm thinking, the reason these women aren't giving out their identity isprobably because they're involved in the red-light professions. There's a big difference between "groping" someone at a strip club or a playboy party and doing at, say, a supermarket.

There are too many Republicans in this race and the people of our state simply cannot risk a continuation of the Gray Davis legacy. For these reasons, I think it is wise to step aside."-Bill Simon

This is what separates a statesman from a hack.

McNader in an exotropic megalomaniac LOSER who will NEVER win a statewide race in California and will NEVER see a thin dime from the RNC.

He'll be lucky if he gets reelected to his State Senate seat.

You don't put yourself before the party.

Not honorable.

"You have just proved a point, poet, that we have been saying -- that a lot of the negatives toward Arnold are not coming from lifelong Republican conservatives -- note I said lifelong Republican!"

Thank you for the laugh of the day! Evidently, my vote is important to you phony conservatives. You don't even have the courage of your convictions to admit that you are a liberal.

With apologies to Jeff Foxworthy:

If you are:

Pro-Choice,
Pro-Gun Control,
Pro-Gay partnership being the same as man & woman marriages,
A social Liberal

Then YOU are NOT a conservative and you, should vote for
Arnold, but, please don't tell us you prefer Mc because that is an outright lie and you know it!

"No, voting is your Christian duty as a citizen. I will vote for the Constitution Party candidate, which in the last election, was Howard Philips. Check out their moral uncompromising platform at www.constitutionparty.com"

If they are more than a one-issue party, then I will vote for the Constitution Party candidate, but, under no circumstance will I ever again vote for a RINO or Social Liberal.

As you posted to EV, there is, in reality, one party in America, they just use different initials. Different names, Same results.

So, ol'TommyMac is joining the likes of Davis and BustaMEChA to gain/blow some life in sooo muribund self campaign. He is such a pathetic looser...selfabsorbed and selfserving for his own gain.

Hey, Tom, go and pound sand you're are done, especially politically.

**Where are all the arniebots today - has Arnie's past served to render them speechless? Are they no longer able to defend their horse in this race? It seems even Arniebots cannot defend the indefensible.**

Exmarine, some of us work and have no time to chit chat on-line during office hours. Have a good evening.

You don't put yourself before the party.

He is putting MORALITY above the party, not himself. That is not only honorable, it is absolutely necessary! Arnold wouldn't know morality if it bit him in the foot.
