I am not sure if I am on the Atkins Ping List, but if you could, would you please add me :) Both Notforprophet and I have had a lot of luck with Atkins, and like to see the additional information, recipes on the threads and other good encouragement from others successes.

Yes, I read the book.
People have to be responsible for themselves. If they need to have their mouth zippered in order to lose weight, then maybe any fad diet will be O.K.for them. And what's wrong with SMALL portions? I personally would rather get on a treadmill and burn off some of that fat than swallow it. There's just too much evidence (I'm talking dieticians and nutritionists, not the medical establishment)that this diet will work but can be dangerous when followed over any extended period of time.

A homemade salad dressing that is a snap to make and is very good.
BLUE CHEESE DRESSING
Mix together the following ingredients:
2 cups sour cream
1 pkg blue cheese dressing mix
4-5 oz blue cheese, crumbled (buy it already crumbled)
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp celery seed
1 gurgle (shake twice) Worcestershire sauce
zip zip (shake twice) Tobasco
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 lg clove garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp salt
To this mixture add aprox 2 cups mayo. Use more or less
depending on what consistency you want.
Mix well and place in a quart jar and then store in fridge.
This is extremely low carb and very tasty.

LowCarb Cauliflower Cheese Puffs
- 1 head cauliflower
- 2 Tbs. water
- 4 Tbs. butter, room temp
- 2 lg. egg yolks
- 1 cup grated Parmesan
- salt and pepper
Preheat oven to 400F.
1) Cook or steam cauliflower until soft, drain and place in food processor.
2) Add butter, egg yolks, and cheese. Process until smooth, add salt and pepper to taste.
3) Put small spoonfuls of mixture onto a greased baking sheet.
Bake for 20 minutes or until browned and set. Serve hot.
Note: I have deep-fried these little buggers as well.

I personally would rather get on a treadmill and burn off some of that fat than swallow it.Well if you swallow the right fats you will feel better :) Your moods will be better too. People need essential fatty acids especially the omega 3's and 6's, found in olive oil, nuts, flax, cold water fish.

Yeah, and you can get a nice big jar of macadamia nust for under nine grand if you shop around. :) When I lived in Waikoloa, on the Big Island, I thought I was getting a bargain buying everybody macadamia nuts that is until I went to Walmart's while I was home and the damn things were cheaper on the mainland than in Hilo. Talk about aggravated lol But man all those wonderful desserts made with macadamia nuts.... oh those were the days.

Tell me about it, when I lived on the Big Island I drove past Maunal Loa Macadamia Nuts every day on the way to Hilo, and they were still expensive as all hell. I think the airlines even quit giving them away.
And now I have to go buy some now that y'all have gotten me thinking of them. Thanks. :)

But I might try, with olive oil." Coupla things. When you pour out the water from a jar of olives and replace it with extra-virgin olive oil, give it a couple of days to steep for max flavor.
And on Newmans Creamy Seizure, remember that you're not "diluting." You're enriching the flavor. The reason why the mfr doesn't put in that much extry-virge is the COST. You will be improving the dressing with the addition of the oil, although you don't necessarily have to go to 50-50. Even 25/75 will be an improvement.
Bear in mind that extry-virge may go cloudy or even firm under refrigeration. So when using any dressing that you've BAMMED with extry-virge, let it set at room temp for 5 minutes and give it a good shake.

In Turkey, ride on a bus packed with people who regularly eat pickled cabbage and pickled beets, and do not bathe often enough. If you can make it through the aroma that seeps through their skin, you won't even CONSIDER wanting to find out what they TASTE like.

Caffeine withdrawal. You'll know you were addicted if you get the headaches.
It's ugly and it's painful, but you'll live (you may not feel like you want to, though), and it should only last a few days, at the most. It's a killer going without the morning pot of coffee. I DON'T recommend treating the headaches with aspirin or Tylenol, just drink water. Helps flush the system.
