There are books on the subject and the nutritionist I go to recommends it. Apparently your blood type needs a certain type of food and needs to avoid certain kinds of food. I don't understand much about it as I don't do it myself, but my friend certainly swears by it. There are 'neutral' foods that you can eat that don't harm your system, but there are definitely things you should stay away from. Does it work? I don't know. I have no first-hand knowledge of it except that Pat says she feels better than she has in years and she and her husband are really into healthy eating and supplementation. She has a number of health problems that she feels are being helped by this kind of diet.

It's OK - we're feeding the cats Iams now, except to supplement feed our Maine Coon a kidney diet, she gets the Purina Kidney Function. She won't eat the science diet, or the others, except for Walthams. My Maine Coon isn't one of the bigger ones - she was up to 17 pounds, but was really tubby. Not healthy for cats, or people. The vet refers to the all canned food diet for cats as "Catkins diet".

My mom used to quote Weight Watchers....." They would say Food should be the last thing on your mind".....I think for me excercise is the key and I'm not the big 2 hour a day walker anymore....When I first started walking I lost 11lbs....then after awhile I wasn't loosing anymore weight and just got bored....Now I went out at got a "gazelle"....I use it but it's looking more like a piece of furniture every day....Well good luck to you......Here come the holidays so enjoy......

Welcome aboard.. This diet is a blessing to many, and a scourge to others. You will find on my profile page in the link file, many threads with a lot of info and recipes that will assist you with the world of low carb eating, but if I could offer you the single best advice in your quest for info, thats is to get an Atkins book, and read it completely before you start.

The reason many folks fail in this and other diets is that they don't fully understand that these are complete lifestyle changes, and as such they need to be fully understood before attempting. That said, it's good to have you on our list.. buckle up, this ride can and will get bumpy.. LOL Carlo

Recently the atkins diet seems to have been over taken by the south beach diet. Which from what I can gather it is the atkins diet for 2 weeks followed by the GI diet. I found s great curry recipe for those who want to loose weight (chicken curry recipe). I'm a really big curry fan.

Chicken Lentil Curry.. ZING goes the strings of my heart.. What a neat recipe.. I could eat that for breakfast, lunch or dinner.. but it could be that I am just hungry .. :)

Thanks for sharing it.. You are correct about the new Atkins trends, and maybe that is just the majority of folks that couldn't handle the riggers of the real thing.. Any diet is better than none if you need to kick the weight.. Hang in there and don't be shy about sharing those great recipes.. :)
