Since the recall in California's coming up, we'll use that for purposes of our tutorial. And the lesson to be learned is this, if you're too stupid to vote correctly, don't vote.

Now I know they're expecting a big turnout next week, especially now that Arianna Huffington has loosed up her 3.5 votes to freely roam the plains.

Bryan, I hate to tell you this, but Eastwood is a Libertarian and is good friends with (commie) state Senator John Burton. In fact, Eastwood has been going leftward for a while now...unfortunately. He's riding on his (older) conservative coattails, but he has definitely changed.

And you forgot a few people on your list:

Heather Locklear
Sara Michelle Gellar
Freddie Prinze Jr.
James Woods (still a Democrat but leans very rightward & supports President Bush)
John Malkovich (leaning very rightward)
Vincent Gallo
Vince Vaughn (blacklisted due to his Republican politics)

"Could someone explain this remark to me?"(Gaslight)

"Gaslight" is the title of a movie starring Ingred Bergman, and Charles Boyer. It was made in the 40's or early 50's.

When one "Gaslights" another person,it has to do with driving another person crazy through small incremental steps.Doubting one's judgement by the perp. or doubting the victim's perception of reality. The perpetrator(perp) should be in a position of authority.

I recently saw "Ripley's Game". If you get a chance check out the Palladian villa used as a setting. If I lived in such a place I'd kill millions before I'd move back to the trailer park...and that's exactly what happened and still happens.

Even Britney Spears was publicly endorsing Bush.

And that was before the Madonna kiss. ;-)

LOL. Dennis Miller never was very amusing to me until I started listening more closely within the past year. Miller's extremely bright and his mind seems to work faster than the speed of light.

In fact, if anything, maybe his mind works too fast. He often doesn't leave enough time for the audience to absorb, reflect upon or relish his zingers. He just keeps talking. I've heard that it's very difficult to learn the art of comedic timing.

SuperDennis? I dunno, but count me in as a Dennis Miller fan now.

[Let me reiterate, if you are such a complete zipperhead that you cannot maneuver your way around a chad, guess what? I don't want you to vote, because your vote's stupid. And I'm not talking about run of the mill stupid here either. I'm talking about weapons grade stupidity, OK? It's a chad. Deal with it.]

its an interesting question. i don't think any rights to a vote are qualified in such a manner. maybe miller believes in interpreting legislation or the constitution on his own.

Oh, please...

Miller is not advocating blocking people from exercising their right to vote, he's saying that if they're too stupid to be able to punch a chad, he'd prefer they *didn't*.

Similarly, I don't want people to vote for leftists, but that's not the same thing as saying that I think we should bar anyone from doing so.

Miller's point also seems to be that the punch-card ballots might be useful as a de facto "lower bounds IQ test" -- anyone too stupid to be able to completely punch out the hole corresponding to their preferred candidate in a way that makes the ballot countable has just self-eliminated themselves from the vote, and maybe that's not a bad thing.

That's how I felt about the whole 2000 Florida flap -- if someone screwed up their own ballot and didn't punch it properly, why *should* we count their (presumed) vote? Why is that any different from the folks who tried to get to their voting place but were too stupid to find it without getting lost, too disorganized to get there before it closed, too unaware to realize it was election day, etc.?

If you don't make it to the voting location, or forgot to register in advance, or screwed up your ballot card, it's *your* fault that your choice won't be counted. The election process can't hold your hand *that* much, you have a minimum amount of responsibility to make your vote, and make it in a way that it can be actually counted.

Well .. how stupid do you have to be when you get a phone call and are told you voted for Buchanan instead of Gore.

Since ballots don't have names on them .. that is a totally incorrect statement. There is no way in hell ANYBODY can know who you voted for .. that's why it's called a SECRET BALLOT.

I hate to tell you this, but being a conservative libertarian/republican and having socialistic friends is an unavoidable aspect of living, particuarly in CA..

In fact, arguing politics with such friends & relatives is a very entertaining part of many get togethers.. And you would be surprised how many 'liberals' are becoming rational about fiscal conservatism.

Miller has zero respect for the US Constitution and consistently slamms the 2nd ammendment.

This guy is a California populist at best. He's no conservative.

What....he's not lock-stepped with your opinion so he's "no conservative"?

Give it a rest.

"Lock Stepped?"

This guy is an entertainer who's career was in free-fall. He stated recently that the US Constitution was outdated and his opinions on the 2nd ammendment are well known.

Miller has re-created himself as a conservative to salvage his career.
