I find it always strange when religious leaders think they could make politics, and I have met too many tolerant, friendly, Muslims to say that it´s the religion to be blamed for that.

Can you please define "tolerant," especially as it applies to the Muslims you know? Maybe your experience is different than mine, but mine is such that, for example, while most express some sadness re: 9/11, they always qualify it with a big BUT and some hectoring/lecturing about what we did to bring it upon ourselves. I'm sure it's even more, um, interesting regarding Israel and the Jews.

I once heard Juan Williams say these are not terrorists, they are freedom fighters. A lot of the left is willing to ignore children being blown to bits, being burned alive only because they dislike Israel. And they dislike Israel because they dislike the USA.

They despise Israel because it's a successful nation which literally made the desert bloom and, in the process, made the arabs look useless and subpar.

Yeah, I mean that the Muslim I call my friend would never support terrorism. She would never tell anyone how to live except someone will take her granted rights. She doesn´t wear a headscarf and I´d really call her integrated. You wouldn´t think she is a Muslim if you saw her.

My understanding is that many of them here in NYC come across as fine, but when among their own -- and speaking in arabic -- they praise bin laden and his ilk.

She actually has no arabic friends. She is a student just like me and here in Hamburg, she usually goes out with us. We do not often talk about politics, but she has expressed her hate for terrorists, because that would make life more difficult for her. But my point is, that there are many Muslims who are willing to integrate into our western society, and that the religion is not necessarily the evil factor. It´s the abuse of religion by the religious leaders. The Coran itself does not order any believer to fight for Islam or spreading it.
