Has Mark McEwan, Formerly of CBS, Replaced Julian Phillips on Fox & Friends Weekend?
Fox & Friends
Posted on 10/04/2003 4:39:34 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest
Tuning into Fox & Friends Weekend this morning, I note the presence, as one of the co-hosts, of former CBS weatherman Mark McEwan. A number of the Fox crew members welcomed him to Fox, so it's clear this is not a guest appearance, but a move from CBS to Fox.
I note the absence of Julian Phillips, and can only hope that McEwan has replaced him.
McEwan seems solid and mature and at ease with himself. In contrast, the simpering, and yes, effeminate, Julian Phillips gave me bad vibes.
I'd be interested to get the reaction to McEwan of other viewers.

Frankly, I liked the old weekend crew better. I miss Donna Fiducia and Todd Connor when they anchored weekends.

I think Julian Phillips fill/filled a niche well. He doesn't have my opinions or attitudes, but I think it's great that FOX has a voice for the other side. ABCNBCCBSCNN sure doesn't. Julian makes some good points, occasionally.
I do like Mark McEwan, though. Maybe this appearance is an audition.

I regret that Julian is probably coming back. Mark's presence is being ambiguously presented.

Maybe they're auditioning for something else then?

I would vote for Laura in A heartbeat! She is one of the best and the brightest. I make a point of whatching her whenever she is on. I wish that were a consideration. wow....what a show that would make.

Well, maybe Mark's switched teams and this is kind of his 'warm up' period. Remember, Bob Sellers started out doing F&F weekends, and then got his anchor position on the weekend.

Interestingly, or not, Donna Fiducia and Mark McEwen both put in time at WNEW-FM back when they were a good radio station (they're called "Blink" or some such nonsense now after a failed switch to talk).

I don't know if Mark McEwan is a guest try-out, or new and permanent FOXNews fixture. He's a pro. But it's hard to look him up on google. Evidently there's a famous chef and a famous guitarist, both named Mark McEwan. Not only that, but if you google "black weathermen", you know how many bogus links you can get to that particular group! So I gave up.
But I looked him up because I wanted to double check if he were married to an ABC reporter, as I seem to recall, but then again, I might be thinking of Al Roker of NBC.
Steve Ducey is absolutely the most entertaining weather guy ever on television and on FOX he's allowed to do so much more than just weather.....so maybe FOX decided they needed two ducey's>

Actually, I've kind of gotten used to Alex Witt on MSNBC on the weekends...I first turned there duringthe shuttle explosion, when the three clowns on Fox on the weekend were soooooooo bad, I couldn't stand it..Alex seems not to need much sleep, she's on air like 15 hours a day..and no nonsense, hard news type....

Have you noticed? MSNBC has a new stable of very attractive news readers? Their lip gloss isn't quite up to FOX Newsbabe standards, but close.

I noticed that too. Now if we can get rid of that whiny be-atch Juan Williams...Maybe Michael King could take his spot? Now HE'S got it all together! :)

I only go over there on the weekends, because I can't stand the FNC weekend doofusses...once, before I die, I'd like to apply Laurie Dhue's lip gloss....

Bad boy, bad boy!
But the brand of lip gloss the FOXNews make up dept uses, (so I've been told by someone who would know), is the brand, BeneFit.
It's available online, or in larger department store cosmetic depts. I use it...it's fabulous stuff. Alas, I still don't look like Laurie Dhue.

I like Mark. He's quiet, smart and knows his stuff. His level of professionalism reminds me of Greg Gumbel over at CBS Sports.
Black conservative ping
If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)
Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.
[As i mentioned, the B/C & JD! lists are going to float into and out of whack over the forseeable future, while I try to cobble a rig back together for myself. My apologies for any incovenience or misunderstandings in this time frame. New signups/removals may be flaky in this time-frame as well; please bear with me, and keep in mind you may have to FReepmail me more than once for me to get it done. Thanks again!]

I like Alex Witt too. She is really fair. She is on Arnold's tour bus and instead of blowing up the whole groping issue she put it in proper content and prospective and mentioned how the crowds were still supportive and how Maria was standing by Arnold. She seems to be objective instead of promoting some kind of liberal agenda unlike some of those other MSNBC personnel(ex. Ashley Banfield)

Doesn't Trueblackman have contacts there? Perhaps he can give you some names? Or maybe holdonnow could tell you. I'd watch you.
