Grey Davis Attacked Female Aide; LA Times Knew, Reporter Says
American Reporter ^ | October 3, 2003 | Jill Stewart

Posted on 10/03/2003 9:59:56 AM PDT by mgfile

American Reporter Correspondant Jill Stewart then a writer for New Times Los Angeles revealed in 1997 that California Governor Grey Davis attacked aides, hurled vulgarities and ashtrays at them, and 'behaved badly' as Arnold Schwarznegger described his own behavior yesterday.

Moreover, Stewart, a former Los Angeles Times staff reporter, says editors there knew of those attacks from accounts provided to them by their own staff reporters, but none the less concealed those accounts-apprarently, even as it prepared an October 2 expose on sexual harassment invloving Schwartznegger.

The facts of her article were never disputed by Davis, who was then engaged in a bitter campaign for Governor against millionaire Republican businessman Al Checchi.

Definitely a case where discretion is the better part of valor.

Rumor around town today is that they are going to drop a stink bomb about Arnold having a bunch of out-of-wedlock children. I didn't know Arnold played in the NBA too.

Quite a few years ago, perhaps his first month in office or so, Davis' secretary was reported as leaving his office in tears after Grey went nuts. It was reported he had a short fuse and, like Hillary, loved to throw things. That story came up and then quickly disappeared. I remember it, anybody else?

Someone has claimed to have conracted Arnolds first wife in Austria with a baby boy, the Premeiere Magazine who wrote the article himself denies that he ever interviewed the gal.

A woman Gray Davis attacked in his office, one of his assistants, was interviewed on the John and Ken show last year prior to the election. She clearly described his raging behavior. But that wasn't enough to sink his chances in the election. The woman is still a civil servant but had to be transferred out of his office.

Perhaps the worst incident was Davis's attack four years ago on a woman we'll call K., his loyal executive secretary in Los Angeles who acted as chief apologist for his violent "incidents."

K. refuses to discuss the assault on her with the media but has relayed much of the story to me through a series of interviews with a close friend. On the day in question, state Controller Davis was in a purple rage because an employee had rearranged framed bond-sale notices on his office walls. When K. entered his office, he shouted, "f***ing pictures!" and violently shoved her out of his way, according to employees who were present. K. ran out, broke down in sobs, and was briefly hospitalized at Cedars Sinai for a severe, stress-related dermatologic reaction.

According to one close friend, though K. suffered an emotional breakdown, she refused to sue Davis, despite the advice of several friends, after a prominent L.A. attorney told her Davis could ruin her. According to one state official, K., protected by civil service, was allowed to continue working under Davis from her home for three months "because she refused to work in Davis's presence." (Checchi's campaign needs a copy of the tape recording Davis left on K.'s home telephone, in which he offers no apology but requests that she return to work, saying, "You know how I am.")

Well, we do now, Gray.

Yep, that's the story I remember...thanks for the link.

"I guess Gray's biggest lie," says his former staffer who notes he often flies into a rage, "is pretending that he operates within the bounds of normalcy, which is not true. This is not a normal person. I will never forget the day he physically attacked me, because even though I knew he had done it before to many others, you always want to assume that Gray would never do it to you or that he has finally gotten help."

On the day in question, in the mid-1990s, the staffer was explaining to Davis that his perpetual quest for an ever-larger campaign chest (an obsession she says led Davis to routinely break fundraising laws by using his government office resources and non-political employees to arrange fundraisers and identify new sources of money) had run into a snafu. A major funding source had dried up. Recalls the former staffer: "He just went into one of his rants of, 'Fuck the fucking fuck, fuck, fuck!'" I can still hear his screams ringing in my ears. When I stood up to insist that he not talk to me that way, he grabbed me by the shoulders and shook me until my teeth rattled. I was so stunned I said, 'Good God, Gray! Stop and look at what you are doing! Think what you are doing to me!' And he just could not stop."

Perhaps the worst incident--long known to Davis-adoring editors of the Los Angeles Times but never published by them--was Davis's attack four years ago on a loyal aide in Los Angeles who for years acted as chief apologist for his "incidents."

The woman refuses to discuss the assault on her with the media, but has relayed much of the story to me through a close friend. On the day in question, State Controller Davis was raging over an employee's rearranging of framed artwork on his Los Angeles office walls. He stormed, red-faced, out of his office and violently shoved the woman, who we shall call K., out of his way. According to employees who were present, K. ran out clutching her purse, suffered an emotional breakdown, was briefly hospitalized at Cedars Sinai for a severe nervous dermatological reaction, and never returned to work again.

According to one close friend, K. refused to sue Davis, despite the advice of several friends, after a prominent Los Angeles attorney told her that Davis would ruin her. According to one state official. K. was allowed to continue her work under Davis from her home "because she refused to work in Davis's presence."

When did he work for Rainbow Push?

Ah, but they're saving the best for last: Coming to a headline near you... "Schwarzenegger the product of Nazi eugenics program..." Just wait, they'll try it. They'll try *anything* at this point.

Just like they buried the Junita Broadrick story until "after" the vote on impeachment; just like they buried the Gore/roomate/marijuana story until after (which they barely reported to begin with) the Democrat Convention. Just like they completely ignored the FBI sting tape of Roger Clinton saying "he had to get some of this stuff (cocaine) for his brother...he has a nose like a vacuum." In some of these cases the media said they didn't want to be responsible for swaying public opinion...especially in regards to the Juanita/rape alligations. Yet these liberals had no problem bringing up a 20+year story on Bush's DUI a week before the general election...just as they are doing with Arnold.

Listen, I have no problem with the media reporting on stories that may be relevant to a candidates character. But the liberal media not only ignores recent Demoratic malfiescence(sp), it highlights old "republican" stories and times them for when they'll have the most political impact. This is even evident in the war with Iraq as the media completely ignores recent statements made by Democrats who supported the intervention in Iraq. It's amazing...they can dig up a Trent Lott quote from 30 years ago but ignore a Ted Kennedy quote from September of 2002, as he declared how dangerous Saddam was. This vast left-wing conspiracy would impress Joseph Goebells.
