AN DIEGO (AP) -- Gubernatorial front-runner Arnold Schwarzenegger acknowledged that he has "behaved badly" to women and offered an apology Thursday.
Schwarzenegger's remarks, as he kicked off a four-day bus tour of the state in the final days of the recall campaign, came after a Los Angeles Times story published Thursday in which six women accused him of sexually harassing and groping them.

At least he did not deny the story or lied about it. He should have come clean earlier. Well, in case I ever run for Governor, I'll get this out on the table right here and now:
Yes, it is true that during my high school, college and Navy days, when I was single, I have done things that were not right which I thought then was playful but now I recognize that I offended people.
Those people that I have offended, I want to say to them I am deeply sorry about that and I apologize because that's not what I'm trying to do.

At the rally this morning, Arnold repeated at least twice,
Where there's smoke, there's fire.
It took the crowd a moment to realize what he was actually saying, and the apology was not a dismissal at all. He owned it. Period.
He'll be on Leno next week again...another chance to
enhance the campaign.
A 10 year old next to me attended the rally as a school
project, so I got to be his interviewee.
Lots of kids were there, not to mention a large racial mix. That was refreshing.

It will get worse. This is just the first round.
I already voted yes on the recall and on 54.

In my opinion, Arnold did exactly the right thing, morallly and politically. In acknowledging his past behavior, he took the wind right out of the liberal media sails. Where can the smearers go now? Keep rehashing the same story after AS apologized? They probably will, but the oomph of the story is over.
Conversely, if he denied the charges, every day some aspect of the womens' stories would be trumpeted, every night these women would be on Larry King Dead or the Chris Motormouth show.
At least Arnold obviated the charge of being a Clinton clone by coming clean right off the bat and not going into deny, lie and cover-up mode.
Plus, with Arnold, these snitch-babes don't have to worry that their pet cats will show up dead on their doorsteps.

So you say I should have one standard for moderates (Coleman and Warner) who play spoiler, and another standard for consevratives (McClintock) whose action have the same effect as what Warner and Coleman did, to wit, handing the election to a RAT?
Sorry, but I'm not into double standards.

As I told my husband, if Arnold tried to pat my butt, I'd let him as I am sure these "accusers" did.

They are devoid of intelligence. Devoid of reason. Devoid of decency. Devoid of Republicanism. They are freaks in our party. It's time to drive them out of it.

This is such a yawn. These stories have been in the public domain for decades. As I told my husband, if Arnold tried to pat my butt, I'd let him as I am sure these "accusers" did. Thanks Nina.

Sure it's political. So are the charges. So he was a bad boy in a sex-charged environment Right, that's what I meant by it has nothing to do with honesty.

You have not had one good thing to say about Arnold since this whole recall thing began. I imagine you are sitting there gloating just like Mullhulland (sp) was doing today on Linda Vesters program.
I do not have a vote in this election, so I don't know if this allegation would change it if I did, but all I can say is I am so sick of all this hypocritical bulls$%t is ridiculous.
This story (or at least parts of it) have been known for months, or years, yet now we are all shocked? Give me a break.
Let's take Arnold out of it for a minute, and look whats happening. If we let this take us over, they win. Democrats are smearing us left and right this week via the media.
Do you honestly all think this is a coincidence?
"Rove leaks CIA identity"
"Rush is racist"
"Rush is a druggy"
"Bush lied about WMD"
"Arnold gropes women"
These are all just generic headlines that mean one thing to the media=
"REPUBLICANS ARE FILTH"
My greatest hope is they don't win. Hopefully these dirty politics will backfire. That doesn't mean at all that I condone Arnold, I just think this is so much bigger than him. And I personally am sick of it!
To: annyokie
As I told my husband, if Arnold tried to pat my butt, I'd let him as I am sure these "accusers" did. I think I'm beginning to understand now. In your book it is OK to grab sombody's T&A if you are good looking & have an (R) next to your name.
It doesn't sound like all these "accusers" liked it as much as you would.

You ought to write a fuller account, not use < br > so much, and post that as a freestanding essay. Give the details the Times etc. leave out.
