Why We Should Boycott ESPN
Posted on 10/02/2003 7:52:46 AM PDT by Libs R Evil
ESPN could easily have come out and said that Rush said nothing wrong, and said they supported him and wanted him to stay, but instead they sat back and did nothing. IMO anyone who aquiesces to PC naziism, or refuses to stand up against it is part of the problem. IMO its time for a boycott of ESPN.

Didn't say ESPN was evil I said PC stomping out free speech was evil and that you can either be with that or against it. So sorry that that was above your ability to comprehend.

Exactly how has Rush's freedom of speech been trampled on?Do you relaly think that if one cannot keep their job while expressing a certain mainstream political opinion that speech is free? Jeez, some people are truly thick.

Okay, you win. I'll get rid of my TV. Truthfully, I haven't even been watching ESPN much lately. Fall home improvement projects (my wife) have been keeping me busy.

So Rush was Dixie Chick-ed?
To: GSWarrior
Maybe ESPN should take that role model Michael Irvin off the air too while they are arranging the Sunday lineup. I am sure they can find at one retired athlete who wasn't busted for snorting crack with hookers.
To: TheExploited
I know. Whose bright idea was that? He doesn't bring a lot to the show.
To: GSWarrior
that was a lame analogy if ever I saw one.

It was obvious? There are PLENTY of black athletes that are succeeding very well right now. The Big 3 of sports all have some. Why would the media "want" one more? I think the notion is ridiculous.

Look dude, the MLB playoffs are on, and ESPN is carrying them. I don't care if they came out and supported Howard Dean, I'm watching them. Witnessing the Red Sox go into the tank yet again is worth it.
To: TheRedSoxWinThePennant
Will Lowe be fresh for game 3, after pitching 2 innings yesterday? Will Pedro be able to pitch game 4 (assuming there is a game 4), after throwing 130 pitches that same day?
The Red Sox Nation is in big trouble. Grady is toast if they get swept.

There are PLENTY of black athletes that are succeeding very well right now. That's an understatement. But Rush was referring specifically to black quarterbacks, and only Doug Williams of the 1987 Washington Redskins has been able to lead his team to a Super Bowl victory. And QB is traditionally the position of "smart" players, so this is a touchy subject.
To: Quick1
NOT quarterbacks, though....you have to understand.... the "OFFENDED PARTY" pics conservatives words apart.....

Its sacrifices like that, that made America great

If you noticed, the vast majority of posters on this thread agree with my sentiments that your proposed ESPN boycott is ridiculous. You a sports fan?

If you noticed, the vast majority of posters on this thread agree with my sentiments that your proposed ESPN boycott is ridiculous. That's right, who cares that freedom of speech is being flushed down the toilet in America? I want my ESPN!
Congratulations--its sacrifice and principals like that that made this country great! NOT

Ah, but Rush DID do something wrong. He tried to turn a football show into a political show. And that's not what ESPN is selling. Then why of all people did ESPN hire Rush Limbaugh?
