In her recently published memoir, "Living History," Hillary Rodham Clinton describes how deeply opposed she was to the appointment of an independent counsel to look into the failed Whitewater land deal involving her and President Clinton.
"The idea of hard-core Republican partisans rummaging through our lives, looking at every check we had written in 20 years, and harassing our friends on the flimsiest of excuses infuriated me," Senator Clinton wrote in one section.
But she is now saying she supports the appointment of a special counsel to determine whether someone in the Bush administration illegally disclosed the identity of an undercover C.I.A. officer.

Woolsey served from 1993 to 1995 as President Clinton's first CIA director (when the CIA was reporting leaks about once a week to the Justice Department)

I notice that the article is written by someone named RAYMOND HERNANDEZ. Never heard of him. That suggests to me that they are not really going much further with this story, or they would have put a heavyweight on it.

Wow. It certainly took her long enough to jump on it. I'm surprised that she wasn't screeching for an in-Depends prosecutor before the "scandal" ever broke.

Can someone please clarify something for me? I am positive I read on FR that George Tenet did not sign off on the request to investigate this and was not aware of the original request to Justice. Democrats have said ad nauseum that George Tenet found this serious enough to ask for a criminal investigation. They have thrown his name around to bolster their case and I wondered if anyone remembers which thread/article in the beginning stated he was not involved. Ms.Plame could have requested it herself through whatever division sends these frequent requests for all we know. Some democrats have now changed their George Tenet requested this to the CIA requested this. I still believe if there was a political agenda behind Wilson's trip that his wife was in any way involved with that her involvement is relevant and why he was chosen and most importantly who paid for the trip. I haven't heard one thing about about who funded it except it wasn't the CIA.
