Just got back from the Ann Coulter speech at the University of Law School (UNC). It was outstanding. The topic was solely the war on terrorism, liberals complaints about it, illegality of profiling swarthy males at airports, John Ashcroft and the lefts hate for him, and the general position of the left on the war on terrorism.
It was an incredible speech and I hope a transcript becomes available. She had some gem quotes that must make the rounds. There were very few protestors that I could see. One was standing at the entrance with a sign that had a Coulter quote on it. "There are no good democrats in America." --Ann Coulter
At first I didn't know if he was a supporter or a protestor. But upon opening his mouth he made it clear he was no fan of Ann Coulter.
There were a fair number of liberals in the crowd and they were surprisingly well behaved. They asked their questions in an almost respectful manner. Except for one who asked "With your perpetuation of race hate, how do you sleep at night?" Ann proceeded to cream her to roaring applause.
I hope to a transcript becomes available. It was a wonderful speech and all should read it. Even better would be an audio file of it.

Ann is obviously a very gracious lady too. Everyone knows she like me best, but didn't want to hurt your feelings. :)

As I said, the strange thing was that you couldnt tell if he was a supporter or a protestor. He just stood there with his sign. Its a sign any FReeper could be seen holding. It was only when he started trying to confront some people entering the speech did it become clear that he didn't like Ann.
If your gonna protest, make your point and position clear.

*grins* That made my whole week.
Hey, where were you?
MKM and I were hoping you would come.
You missed a great speech! (smelly liberals notwithstanding)
To: Tijeras_Slim
OK so I'm jealous.Heh.
When she takes me out to dinner, I'll be sure to tell her that Slim says "hey". ;)

Hey CD, it was nice meeting you all last night. I too thought Ann was very gracious. I'm just excited I got to attend and meet her. I'll never forget this one. I was lamenting the fact that we don't have a good camera to my husband last night, so I didn't get a pic with her. I'm disappointed about that! But otherwise, it was a great night. News 17 last night was discussing how controversial she is and the fact that UNC paid her 20k to speak.
To: Constitution Day
I was surprised at how well behaved the liberals were. Maybe they finally listened to her about the liberals tactics of shouting down speakers and didn't want to prove her right.
Hell, at Cornell they threw oranges at her! And they were such girly men they couldn't reach her. And she pointed this out and made fun of them.

It was nice meeting you and your husband as well!
Were it not for my friend mykdsmom and her digital camera, I would not have had a photo either.
I didn't get to see the news last night, so I missed that.
Sure, $20K sounds like a lot.
If a liberal speaker was paid that much, or more, I bet they wouldn't have mentioned the fee.
BTW, I heard that WTVD 11 aired some of the speech after the 11:00 news.
A woman in my office, who I thought was liberal, told me about it and how much she likes Ann Coulter.
I guess I had her figured wrong!
Take care,
CD

Yeah, but if he didn`t like Ann, and he`s holding up a sign like that, chances are he`s a demonrat. The demonrats have only themselves to blame, because one of the most shocking things after 911 is how so many of them truly let down their country. Like Ann says, can you imagine Republicans giving Roosevelt hell after Pearl harbor? Can you imagine a Republican calling the the war against Japan a 'fraud'? More people died on 911 than Pearl harbor, but that doesn`t matter at all to demonrats today. Rather than join together as a nation to fight terrorism once and for all, we have to fight it on two fronts. Overseas and right here against those who are trying to prevent us from doing so.

Yeah, but if he didn`t like Ann, and he`s holding up a sign like that, chances are he`s a demonrat. That only became apparent once he started talking. But for quite a while he was silent, just standing there holding his sign. I could easily see a FReeper holding the same sign at a protest of any given democrat.
