The President had a very busy day. He spoke at a signing ceremony for the first Homeland Security funding bill (for 2004); met with White House General Counsel Alberto R. Gonzales, Chief of Staff Andrew Card, and Homeland Security Advisor John Gordon; Pakistan's Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, who expressed cooperation in the the war on terrorism and a mutual desire to deepen bilateral relations; and NASA administrators, and space crew, the latter being members of the International Space Station crew 6.
He met with Colombia's President Alvaro Uribe in the Oval Office to discuss security issues, and also toured a Davenport, Iowa, Sears manufacturing plant that makes farm equipment seats.
Laura Bush gave television and press interviews; spoke at a book festival organized by Mrs. Putin that was modeled on Mrs. Bush's book fairs in the US; and went to the Bolshoi Theater with Mrs. Putin, Mrs. Kocharian of Armenia, and Mrs. Pyruanov of Bulgaria, to see Don Quixote.

Tons of wonderful photos of our President and First Lady. Thanks ever so much, Gretchen.
I looked all the way through the pictures and it amazes me how much Laura Bush just glows. Especially when she's smiling. I bet the President can't wait for her to get home.
ps I think this is the first time I'll be in the top 50 in weeks! :)

These are great photos Gretchen, thanks! The 1st Lady looks relaxed now, like she's enjoying herself.
Did anybody else read where Chirac's wife came out saying that Hillary would be a great US President and lead all the world's women to new heights or some such drivel? More like Hitlery would run the country straight into the ground!
Oh well, no more mention of the Beest from me tonight. Only warm thoughts of our Pres. and 1st lady.

It seems like the President can make anybody feel at ease. I bet it would be a blast to get to know him.

Zorka seems to be the youngest and newst of the first ladies and I wonder if she is bonding with Laura in order to absorb some of that wonderful Laura class and grace!

A special treat, just for you!
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld makes his case for financing future operations in Iraq (news - web sites) and Afghanistan (news - web sites) as he testifies before the House Appropriations Defense Subcommittee on Capitol Hill, Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003. Though Congress continues to support the Bush administration's funding for Iraq reconstruction, lawmakers are finding it harder to defend spending as the U.S. faces record budget deficits. I did read that article. Chirc's wife commented that the Beast is an inspiration to women world wide. I about died laughing when I read that. If Hitlerary is Mrs. Chirac's best example of an inspirational women, then she's off her rocker big time.

I think I got everything up to date, including a couple from yesterday.
Was the one with the Librarian of Congress the one I posted in #47 the one you were mentioning?

My gosh, someone needs to tell Mrs. Putin to quit wearing the drapes!
Laura is lovely, the real lady in red!
One never knows when the dose is going to be posted these days, I think it is great when it is early for those on the East Coast!

Gee, I am too young to recall the cold war, but my Mommy tells me about it! :-)
Okay, so I lied! It is indeed hard to believe that Mrs. Putin and Laura look like they enjoy each other's company!
Thank you President Reagan! Because of him, today's children don't have to be afraid of the bomb like I did as a kid. But of course, now we have the terrorist threat.
