God Bless Our Military
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Dansangel; Dutchess; Mama_Bear; Aquamarine and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nations leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.
Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I'll try to avoid sarcasm but there was no World's Fair in Chicago in 1964. (I did find lots of pages that said it debuted in Chicago but since there was NO fair in Chicago that year it's another example of Internet crap.)
According to Ford's web site - From a cached Google page - (I'm too lazy to find the new page if Ford still has it. A Google search for "new york world's fair mustang" shows many pages referencing this)
"Happy Anniversary, Mustang
NEW YORK, April 16, 2003Nearly 40 years after the original long hood, short deck "pony car" was unveiled on April 17, 1964 at the World's Fair in Queens, Ford Division today returned to New York City to unveil a special 40th Anniversary Special Edition Mustang at the New York International Auto Show, along with a limited production SVT Mustang "MystiChrome" Cobra."

POssibly my best car story isn't about a muscle car. It happened recently when I was pumping gas into my '51 Stoodybaker.

This funky lookin' kid comes out of the store (baggy pants, weird hair, earrings stuck in his eyebrows....) and hollars out: "Duuuuuude! Is that one of those new Mini Coopers?"
I guess he figured the answer was 'No' because by the time I quit laughing and was able to se straight, he'd gotten into his spoiler/sticker festooned ricemobile and driven off.

In my (quite biased) opinion, the most underrated muscle car was the 1967 Firebird 400:
![](http://www.teufert.net/stuff/5-67fbhr.jpg)
Some Enemy Of The Planet decided to drop a GTO engine into a Hydramatic-Positrac equipped Firebird. The hood tach is particularly cool, its considered the first automotive application of "heads up display".
Dad brought one of these home at the very start of my senior year in HS. This was the era of the heavily smog-bogged 6.6L Trans-Ams. I used to call what I did to them at stoplights "Giving them the Bird". >:)

Good morning Angel. My favorite muscle car was a '63 Rambler station wagon which would not start if it was cloudy outside and did not have as much power as Maggie's washing machine. I hated that car.

Mornin' Madame Gearhead!
Does an old beat-up Saturn qualify as a "muscle car?" If conditions are right it might even hit 80 mph. Going downhill........wind at it's back....
I' s'pose not. :-(
I don't like this thread....... it depresses me. :-)
